Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1948 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75 limousine. This is a relatively rare car, estimated to be 1 of about 100 built for the ‘48 model year. Unfortunately this car has been sitting since the mid-70s. The original owners stored it in their garage from the ‘73 or ‘74 until the mid-90s when my father purchased it. It has since sat for an additional 15 years or so. Being that the car has sat for so many years, it’s not in the best of conditions as one should expect. The body is rusty, the interior is poor, and the engine is seized. This car will need to be towed. 3 tires do not hold air, but the wheel bearings are free, I have moved it recently and can confirm this. I have majority of the trim and the running boards. Glass is all there but some are cracked and will need replacing. I am missing the hood latch which I know is a rare item, so if you’re after a 100% restoration you might want to start looking for one of those. The car is sitting on steel wheels, hubcaps are included. Other bad news is that it has no title and hasn’t been registered since the early 70s. The title issue is interesting in that, according to research I’ve done, the NYS DMV did not issue titles to cars until 1973. Being this is a ’48 and hasn’t been registered since the 70s there isn’t a title to look for. The last registration sticker is still in the windshield, I also have a photo of it from 10+ years ago that is clearer than it is now. I also have the bill of sale from when my father purchased it. There should be enough paperwork to go with this car to not be an issue for registering it. All of these bad things just make it worthy as a project car. Underneath it all, this is a very simple car to work on and diagnose. Many of these are restored and used for limousine service, so if you’re looking for some extra income doing weekend limo-service or are looking to add a classic to your existing fleet this could be for you. Not interested in doing what has been done time and again? Turn it into a rat-rod. Clear coat the rust, drop a crate motor in it, and throw some airbags underneath. Turn it into a panel truck or a camper instead. Put a really big motor and a rollcage and go drifting. Anything is possible. Why am I selling it? This was my father’s project and he passed away a few years back. I’ve been using it basically as a big storage box for my own projects. Now I really need the space in my garage that this behemoth has been occupying. I've got a deadline to unload this car by June so time's a ticking. If I am unable to sell this car it is going to be turned into scrap metal so don't waste time and save this car from an unfortunate fate!Vehicle is sold as is, with no warranty. Transportation of vehicle not provided. $250 deposit via PayPal required within 48 hours of sale with a final payment in cash upon pick up.
