Vehicle Detail

I've put everything into this truck with the intentions of keeping it, but we don't use a truck as much as we use to and less so in the near future, so it is time to move it on to a new owner. This truck is originally from New Mexico via California. It is a very solid truck, and well cared for. It has taken me all over the Ozarks, between here and the Southwest many times (pics in yellow are in SW NM, Cibola NF). It gets great gas mileage for a 4x4 (20-ish in town, 25 highway). I've put about 40k miles on it, and an incredible amount of time/money into it. It has the original 22r. It is the first year for the extra cab, has the straight front axle, and 5-speed transmission; not something you see every day in this condition. It's a tractor, no doubt! An extremely reliable and simple vehicle. Parts have been replaced with Toyota OEM factory first, or high quality aftermarket if not available through Toyota. 3" ARB Old Man Emu lift, new Cooper a/t tires and spare, KC lights, nice extra cab Toyota topper (fresh hatch rubber and struts, good screens), XD9000 lb. Warn winch, Trail gear bumpers, LCE header, completely new exhaust front to rear, and a high flow stainless muffler. I also have an LCE spiral carb base, and a new drag link from Toyota (currently uninstalled). Newer Optima yellow top deep cycle battery, starter, alternator, ignition, coil, Weber Redline carb w/pre-filter and vented float bowl, belts, idler, etc. Front axle is completely rebuilt, all brake hydraulics, shoes/pads, and lines, two rear U-joints (have 3rd... needs installed, very slight vibration at speed), all fuel lines front to back, fuel pump, filter, and body mounts. Just installed a new windshield. I'm sure there is more I have forgotten... the list is long. Also including a couple boxes of goodies and spare parts! Engine was rebuilt right before I bought it (at about 240k), and the truck was then placed in an Albuquerque storage unit. The heat dried up the valve stem seals, so I pulled the head and completely rebuilt it (correct valve and seat angle job, valve guides, resurfaced, all new Toyota gaskets). I also updated the timing chain with the stronger metal guides. Transmission was swapped out 30k ago. Shifts perfectly, no grinds, growls, or noises of any kind... that goes for the entire drivetrain. Engine has no leaks, no smoke, and factory compression. Fluids/grease have been (over) kept up on. Even the main frame has extra drain holes and gets flushed periodically, and new outer frame plugs from Toyota to prevent it from getting loaded up with dirt. 4WD works perfectly, low/high. Starts and runs like a top; drive it home, wherever that may be. Interior is in great shape for its age. Exterior just got a full going over, sanded out all imperfections, removed any body filler, fully welded the bed seams to prevent rust, re-seam sealed the bed sides above and below (like the factory should have done), then put in primer. Needs minor body work and paint. What you see is what it is. This truck has no rust. Continue the build, or enjoy as is. This is a great example of a classic, straight axle Toyota truck that has been maintained and improved throughout its lifespan. Feel free to ask questions. Thanks, K On May-17-14 at 10:48:04 PDT, seller added the following information: ***UPDATE I took the truck out for a good spin today on the highway and such, and I must have been imagining the vibration from that third rear u-joint I have yet to replace. It does have the very slightest play in the joint, but isn't showing up on the road. I guess I'm a bit "anal" as they say, and you may have gathered from the description of this truck :). Truck drives perfectly, shifts great, and cruises down the highway sooo nice, especially so for a straight axle Toyota. I really like the ARB/Old Man Emu shocks and springs; they make a huge difference in the ride. I adjusted the drag link as much as I could yesterday (which does need replaced, again OEM part supplied), and steering play is down to about an inch at the steering wheel; totally tolerable for a drive home by the new buyer. The only other thing I can hear is a very, very slight tapping of the valves until warmed up, which given the head is coming up on the 50k mile valve adjustment, that makes sense. I know what the timing chain sounds like, and that is not it. Also, the little u-shaped plug in front of the head under the valve cover is just starting to weep. Its well above the oil line and very slight, so no big deal. Easily taken care of when the valves are adjusted at some point soonish. No worries there. Oh, and it just got a fresh oil change and filter. Its an awesome truck, thanks for all the interest, and best luck to the highest bidder! If you have any questions, I know all about this truck, so ask away. The only question I will not answer is the ever popular: what's your reserve? Its an auction, best luck. That said, the reserve is well below what I have in it and very fair, in my opinion. Cheers, K
