Vehicle Detail
2000 Triumph Speed Triple 955cc 17,800 miles Roulette Green Clean CA title in hand –no liens or loans. I've had my beloved Hooligan bike for the last 11 years and have put 15,100 wonderful miles on it - enjoyed each one of them immensely, with a smile on my face. However, my most recent rides have left me emotionally torn, as I’m the mom of a 2-year-old boy, and I just can’t enjoy riding anymore without a nagging sense of guilt. Someday I’ll get another bike, maybe when he’s in college, but right now it’s time to sell my bike – it breaks my heart seeing it sit there begging for a long ride along our many prime routes here in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It is ridiculously fun to ride, the mapping is spot-on, and has no dead zones. Shifting is smooth, up and down through all six gears. All kinds of fun in the twisties – responsive and loves the curves, but upright enough to be comfy on long Hwy 1 road trips along the ocean. The bike is mechanically 100%, and it sounds awesome - it has that characteristic deep Triumph howl that I will miss so much. Includes original tool kit, original owner's manual, two original keys, a can of chain wax, and a weather cover/case. So here are the details: Has the bike ever been down? Yes, I was in a minor accident in 2009 – laid it down on Hwy 17 in heavy traffic at 30MPH when some jerk in a Mercedes cut me off while lanesplitting – bike landed on my leg so the damage to the bike wasn’t as bad as it could have been. So, on the bike's right side, there is a moderate scuff on the crankcase, and minor scuffs on radiator, , front turn signal, mirror, heelguard and muffler. See photos of bike – I’ll spare you the photos of my leg scar. The bike immediately went to the motorcycle hospital to be properly inspected and repaired. Frame is sound – no bends or warps. All systems are fully functional. There is also a small scuff by the shifter (see photo) - I knocked it over in the garage once. I hate when that happens. Any other damage? All the plastic is mostly unscathed (there are some deeper scratches on the underside of the tail plastic from my stupid Jack Russell terrier- see photos). There are also 2 small cracks in the plastic near the screw holes, just above the top of the fuel tank, near the "955i" decal (see photos). The bike is still insanely good looking and turns heads everywhere we go. Has the bike been garaged? Yes, all its life, except for the past two years it’s lived outside under a sturdy Nelson Rigg cover. (I bought a house without a garage, what was I thinking??). There is a bit of rust on some of the bolts near the bottom of the bike, due to living near the ocean. The chain has surface rust for the same reason, but I put a couple good coats of chain wax on it and have my shop guy check it periodically and give me the OK to ride. No excessive stretch in the chain. Kept up on maintenance? I’ve done an oil change at least once each year. It had new tires 4 years ago, but I haven’t put a lot of miles on those. New clutch cable in August 2010. New battery in March 2014. I will be happy to email additional detailed photos of any part/area - just ask! I'm located in Santa Cruz, CA - 45 mins south of San Jose, and 1.5 hours south of San Francisco. My bike is not listed for sale anywhere else, so you don't have to worry about the auction ending early. I'm hoping for a buyer who will enjoy many more years of this awesome, timeless bike.
