Vehicle Detail

This is a terrific example of a rare Pontiac Safari version of the GM workhorse B-body full-size 8-passenger station wagon. This wagon is a delight to drive and can haul practically anything! Equipped with an Olds 307 V-8 mated to a 3-speed automatic with overdrive, it’s fairly indestructible. And with only 69,000 miles on the clock, it’s only beginning to get broken in! GM only badged about 6,500 of these in 1988 as Pontiacs; the only full-size Pontiac sold that year. This was my daily driver for about 5 years and I also took it on many 1-2 hour trips and I really wouldn’t balk at heading out ad driving it across the country. However, I needed a higher mileage commuter car, so the Pontiac was only driven about 400 miles in the last year. Now, I am moving and I have to let it go ASAP.A/C converted to R134A, cruise control, power windows, doors, brakes, driver’s seat, tilt wheel, practically every option offered. Never fails to start.A few things: the small block V8 is no racing champ. Because of the weight of this car, it is not fast off the line, but it will eventually get there and will cruise all day at 70-75. It could use some new spark plugs and some hot points and maybe a carb adjustment simply because it’s been sitting more than it’s run in the last year or so. Rear shocks are new; front brakes are about two years old, brand-new automatic antenna. Battery is brand new. Front tires are a bit worn and should probably be replaced. There is a bit of discoloration, from the sun, I suspect, on the dash near the windshield, but no cracks. The only things I know of that do not work are the cigarette lighter and the middle rear stop lamp on the tailgate. Don’t know about the cassette player – I don’t have any cassettes! The original Delco AM/FM radio works; the cheap original speakers are a bit crackly. This car turns heads. Complete strangers will come up to you in parking lots and tell you about childhood vacations spent sitting in the “way back!” I get it all the time! Car is sold as-is, where-is. No warranty expressed or implied. I have done my best to accurately describe the car here. Please ask any questions before bidding. $500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal within 24 hours of winning. Remainder in certified funds before car is released. Happy to assist with shipping, but winning bidder must arrange. Cannot store; car must be picked up within 7 days of auction end. I reserve the right to end auction early for local sale. No zero-feedback bidders.
