Vehicle Detail
OK, here is the story on this Fiero, which has been my fair weather daily driver since I bought it back in 2004. It is a 1988 GT 2.8L 5 speed manual with converted A/C, power windows, power mirrors, power brakes, power door locks, sunroof, CD with equalizer, tilt steering wheel, leather seats. The pics of the motor were taken right before it went in back in 2009. It now has a little over 18K miles on it. I bought the Fiero as a project car with 77K miles on it and started the long process of restoration and upgrading. I rebuilt the motor at 86K miles in 2009. I have replaced much of the car with new parts when available and used parts when necessary. Numerous upgrades were done to improve the car from stock configuration. Many improvements went into the motor rebuild to maximize what this 2.8L V6 can do. (See performance mods below) The suspension has also been upgraded and is super tight. The interior has been reconditioned with leather seats, new headliner, new sun visors, new floor mats, Pontiac CD., and upgraded speakers. The car is in great mechanical condition with everything working and very good cosmetic condition with only a few minor flaws inside and out. A very clean car for the age and mileage. Please remember that the car is now 26 years old and is not what I would call “show car” perfect, but with an excellent recent paint job, it is a beautiful ride and I get many complements on it. As in any car this vintage, there will be some cracking in various plastic parts and the under carriage is that of a daily driver. This is still a great looking iconic sports car that is a blast to drive, especially with all the performance motor and suspension improvements. There is nothing else quite like a Fiero. Due to the extensive engine modifications, it was necessary to re-program the car computer. The ECM was modified to accept standard eproms with a remote chip socket installed behind the console door for easy access (see pics). Custom chips can be programmed on a laptop using TunerPro software and Moates AutoProm chip programmer which is included along with 3 extra chips. This allows for unlimited user tuning of engine parameters like base fuel map, acceleration enrichment, spark advance curve and many more. The motor runs great and does not burn oil. The tuning program is pretty close although there are a couple of flat spots that still need to be tuned out. Using a laptop computer, the AutoProm can function as an emulator for real time tuning of the ECM program which is then flashed to one of the chips. My EFI tuning skills are amateur level so I was still seeking the perfect tune, however, someone with more advanced tuning skills will have no problem smoothing out the flat spots. I will also include numerous spare and replaced parts, which are all very resealable (see partial list below). I have tried to describe this car as accurately and honestly as I can so you will know exactly what you are getting. The car is being sold AS IS. Please ask questions before bidding. Car is available for inspection by appointment. A deposit of $500 by PayPal within 48 hours after close of auction. Balance to be paid by cashiers check within 7 days. Buyer to arrange for pick up and transport. I will assist as necessary.
