Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a extremely rare good running condition 1939 Plymouth Woodie P-8 Wagon with original unrestored 32,000 miles. The Woodie rides nice and shifts smoothly in all gears. The Woodie was repainted green approx. 40 years ago over the original Hampton Beige color and presents well showing minor scratches and wear due to age. There is barely any rust or corrosion. It has been garage kept with no exposure to the elements. The car has its original drive train, original interior, original rare safety glass option, original top, and appears to have all its original wood. The upholstery is original and still has its original factory tags inside all three seats and original side panels and floor mats. The vehicle also comes with all of the original sales brochures from 1939 including the shop manual, parts manual and owner' s manual. I also have documentation of ownership of the vehicle to the mid-1960s. New items include: Brakes, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, stainless steel gas and brake lines, exhaust system, complete wire harness, gas tank, hoses, shocks, tires, rebuilt carborator, flushed radiator, u-joints, and recent valve job with new head gasket. Otherwise motor has never been disassembled. Included in the purchase are the many very rare NOS parts still in original boxes including running boards, (3) complete tail light assemblys, (2) gas tank sending units, complete set of brake pads, (1) glass tail lens, (2) headlight buckets complete with glass lenses and factory wiring, (2) rechromed headlight rings, (1) brand new complete headlight wiring harness, voltage regulator, highbeam floor switch, headlight and dash switch, gauges:( temp, oil, voltage, gas), bulbs, coil, thermostat, complete door handles and window regulator with knobs, carborator, pair of side vent trim, compete set of stainless steel grill moldings, front emblem, (3) Plymouth script factory push-on clips, factory oil filter conversion, pair of rechromed bumper guards, complete front license plate bracket, front driver side panel, (3) center vertical grill trim, complete engine gasket set, near mint front bumper bracket, (2) brand new tire tubes still boxed from Coker, spare rims and many more misc. parts. The parts alone are worth thousands of dollars and would make a total restoration project much easier! This 1939 Plymouth Woodie Wagon has been featured in Hemmings Motor News, Woodie Times on several occasions, Old Cars several times and features in the published book "Lost and Found", Great Barn Finds and Other Automotive Discoveries and was featured on the front cover. A copy of the book is included with this sale. The previous owner had stored this Woodie in a trailer in 1976 along with a 1948 Ford Woodie where it sat untouched covered in dust until 2007 when I purchased the vehicle. The articles about this find have been published in the publications mentioned above. This is a very reliable car. It is a great example of a mostly unrestored original Plymouth Woodie Wagon. The wood condition is very good with no cracks or rot. The natural patina of the wood shows very well. The 1939 Plymouth Woodie Wagon was the last year with a spare tire in the front fender. This wagon also has the original spare tire lock with original key. In 1939 only 1,680 Plymouth Woodie Wagons were made that year. According to Woodie Times Magazine only four other 1939 Plymouth Woodie Wagons are known to exist. This wagon has the rare safety glass option which only 100 of the 1,680 wagons had. This is also the only vehicle produced with square headlights. Buyer is responsible for pick up within 30 days of sale. The car is sold as-is.
