Vehicle Detail
Vintage collectors bike for sale in very good condition. Model made famous when used in the 1975 movie "Race With The Devil" starring Peter Fonda http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073600/ The TM400 Motocrosser model had quite a reputation of shaking the nerves of even famous Motocross riders due to its wild power curve. I had a 1972 TS400 originally and that model was detuned in later years when found to be too unruley on the street. I at 15 years old found this to be true and managed to race it into the rear quarter panel of a thunderbird while racing a GTO. (Yeah I was leading! lol) Ok ok back to this model, Last titled in California where I purchased it from a Hollywood Prop support group and brought it with me in my move to Florida. I bought this 1975 model back in 1999 while reliving my childhood. Has a clear California title. The 1975 model has a more even power range unlike the TM models. Bike is stock in good running condition with good compression. Standard bore Jug has been ported and relieved to TM400 Specs but I do have the original stock jug that goes with bike. A few dents as shown on fuel tank. Appears to have original factory tires. Mileage shows 2018 miles but this may not be correct. Hate to part with it but tax man is knocking... On Apr-09-14 at 21:46:01 PDT, seller added the following information: A few answers for curious folks. No this isn't the actual bike Peter Fonda launched off the back of that motorhome ha ha. Yes the bike did come from a collection of movie prop bikes but I do not know if this bike had been used in any filming. The TM400 had what was called PEI electronic ignition which triggered a spark advance that made the bike explosively unmanageable! (Suzuki should have been called DIE instead of PEI) The TS model was equiped with a Magneto ignition that made the bike a tamed beast. After 1972, Suzuki reduced the compression and installed a smaller carb. I do have a 1972 carb I may throw in if i get a good price from auction. I did not install the larger carb because it would require a bypass of the original airbox. The bike seems to be much improved with the porting alone without the larger carb. I did replace the injection pump with a OEM pump as a preventive measure. Being a 39 year old bike there is a small amount of chrome pitting here and there but overall still in good shape. Turn signals may need a new flasher to be fully functional. By the way you cant really relive childhood, Besides you wont survive the second hookup with that Thunderbird!
