Vehicle Detail
I bought this vehicle from my uncle, I am the 3rd owner of it. The previous owner of the car was a very good friend of the family... I know its badged for a Z28 and has the Z28 302ci motor, but in actuality it is an RS/SS and before anyone asks I do 'NOT' have the SS badging or the 396ci motor. The reason it was swapped over to a Z28 was because my uncle was a die-hard Z28 fan, the answer is as simple as that. The body (minus the cowl hood) is completely all original and has no replacement panels or bondo work ever done to it. however it has been repainted a couple of times. The original paint was Rallye Green (paint code 79bdy) as indicated on the cowl tag. It has also been Silver with black racing stripes. The last time the car was tore down and repainted was in 1984 and it was done in the color as you see in the pictures. The interior is all original, including the glass and none of the glass has any chips or cracks. Although the whole car could use a cleaning because I just pulled it out of storage for the winter, so it is a little dusty... Sorry... The car has always been kept in a garage and never been drove in the winter. Like I said the body was last redone in 1984 and as you see from the pictures of the underneath and the trunk there is absolutely 'NO' rust. Motor and Drive terrain: the motor is a 302ci out of a 69 Camaro Z28, it has been bored over to roughly a 355ci. It has an oversized cam and the heads have been ported and built (heavy duty rockers, springs, push rods etc...). Also I do 'NOT' have the original Muncie Transmission, it now has a T10 4 speed with a Hurst short throw shifter. The rear differential is original housing with 5.38 gears rather then the original 3.73 gears... YES I get that those gears are extremely high for a street vehicle so let me explain why. In '84 when my uncle rebuilt everything (body, motor, tranny and rear end) he wanted to build a quarter mile strip car and to answer your questions before you ask, NO it has never been down a strip. As you can see from the pictures he wanted to keep it as stock and original looking as possible, so it still has the stock wheels all the way around with bias ply tires. That's why it's never been down a strip track, he couldn't ever get it to hook up properly. It still can be driven down the road, but if you get in it to much it will get squarely. Now I've had the car for roughly about a year or so now and want to get rid of it because I don't have the time to take it back to it's original glory. I've only driven the car five times since I've owned it, so I would rather see it go to someone that has the time to appreciate it. The rally head lights do open and close (manually) the vacuum hoses are disconnected, all vacuum lines are there just unhooked. I do have a clean and clear title in hand and my number is (319)427-1101, if there are any questions please don't hesitate to call. No text messages please, it's just easier to answer question over the phone, if I don't answer please leave a message and I'll call back asap. Also and it's entirely up to the buyers discretion, but if it was me buying this car I would not have an outside contractor ship this car. If you are unable to pick it up I can deliver it. Once again though, that's entirely the buyers choice. Thanks...
