Vehicle Detail

1967 Ford Mustang Convertible I’m listing this vehicle for a friend of mine. He purchased it as an unfinished project & I assisted him in completing the car. During the course of this he has purchased another vehicle, actually two others, & has no room for this one. Reserve price is well below investment. Reserve price is not a buy it now price. Owner is hopeful bids will come closer to what he has invested. This is not a must sell, if the reserve is not met the owner is content to make room for the car & store it. Please read the entire description, as I spent allot of time describing this vehicle. Car had a Nebraska title when he purchased it & the previous owner had spent allot of time & money on the car. The body work was mostly complete & it was in primer when he purchased it. Best I can tell the only original exterior sheet metal on the car are the doors, trunk lid & cowl. I found a decal on the rear valance with a 2008 date on it so I can only assume the metal work was completed around 2008 or 2009. Car has power convertible top, power brakes & turn signal hood, that works. The VIN is 7F03C206202 which translates as- 7= 1967 F= DEARBORN 03= CONVERTIBLE C= 289 2V 206202= Production number The trim/door tag is still riveted on the driver door & translates as- 76A= Convertible w/Standard Interior T= Candy Apple Red (Exterior paint color) 2D= Red/Standard Buckets 27E= 27th of May (1967) 41= DSO/Chicago 0= 2.79 Standard Differential W= C4 transmission Remnants of the original car were still present when my friend purchased it. The red seats, door panels & dash were still intact & I found traces of the original red paint. The VIN is still intact on the driver side inner fender/engine compartment & matches the door tag. EXTERIOR- Body was reworked awhile back an unknown body shop. New quarter skins, fenders, hood, taillight panel, outer rocker panels, outer wheel wells & front valance were installed. Floor pans were replaced also. I had the GT rear valance installed prior to paint. I’ve restored many vehicles over the years & I’m satisfied with the metal work that was done to this car. Everyone has their own opinion as to what good metal work is & I cannot change that. I can only tell you that I’m satisfied with the work that was done to this car, & I’ve had several done myself. Frame rails & torque boxes are original & best I can tell are solid. Once purchased, the car was sent out for paint & finished in Ford Performance Red. Dupont Urethane paint was used with integrated clear. Painted Feb. 2014. Car was wet sanded & buffed prior to reassembly. All parts described as NEW were installed within the last 6 months or less, unless indicated otherwise. New Exterior Parts Installed- New front bumper New grill surround trim New front parking/turn signal lights New front spoiler New hood trim New hood turn signal wiring harness New windshield New exterior door handles New exterior mirrors New Black Vinyl Convertible Top w/plastic rear window New convertible top cylinders New door locks New trunk lock New taillight lenses New taillight bezels New rear bumper New GT exhaust tips New back up light assemblies (they work too) New GT pop open fuel cap New bumper brackets front & rear New headlights INTERIOR- New standard seat covers- Front & Rear New seat foam New seat trim New (aftermarket) console New dash trim New instrument cluster lenses New AM/FM CD Player New Custom Autosound kick panels w/speakers New dual speaker dash speaker New dashpad New dash knee pad New door panels New arm rests New interior handles- windows & door New door lock knobs New heater control cables New heater fan switch New defroster ducts New heater resistor New headlight dimmer switch New (aftermarket) Grant steering wheel New turn signal switch in column New dash & courtesy light bulbs New rear quarter trim covers New shift bezel New shift knob New molded carpet kit New floor sound deadener New floor heat insulation New door sill plates New complete weatherstrip kit New window felts New ashtray New sunvisors New interior rearview mirror New hidden radio antenna New ignition switch New door locks New trunk mat DRIVETRAIN- Motor was rebuilt by a previous owner but I have no specs as to what was done to it. Supposedly it had 0 miles on it when my friend purchased the car. I can say that it had been loosely bolted in & the first order of business for my friend was to have a mechanic get the car roadworthy. The motor being loosely bolted in & not having any exhaust leads me to believe that it had not even been broken in when he bought the car. I replaced the valve covers & inside the motor is spotless, it has good power & no knocks, pings or leaks. ID tag on the intake indicates that the motor is a 1969 model 302 c.i. motor & it is backed by a C4 Automatic transmission which has also supposedly been rebuilt. Trans shift good & smooth with no slipping or leaks. New drivetrain parts- New fuel tank (previous owner-unknown date of install) New fuel lines New fuel sending unit New power brake booster New master cylinder New aluminum valve covers New air cleaner New Petronix HEI conversion New front end rebuild kit- Every replaceable front end part is new New front end alignment New front shocks New rear shocks New front wheel bearings New brakes- front & rear shoes, wheel cylinders, hoses, lines, hardware etc… drums were turned & car has 4 wheel power drum brakes. New 17x8 Coy C67 wheels- front & rear New Nitto tires- staggered w/wider in the rear New fan shroud New transmission cooler lines New speedometer cable New speedometer gear- Miscalculated this & speedo reads a little high. New hoses New alternator (previous owner-unknown date) New battery New battery cables New starter solenoid New motor mounts (previous owner) New transmission mount (previous owner) New exhaust- Complete front to rear with aluminized pipe, Flowmaster mufflers & H crossover. New radiator (previous owner-still has stickers on it) New coolant overflow reservoir New battery tray New/ Rebuilt 2 barrel carburetor New chrome export brace New chrome Monte Carlo bar OTHER- Car is definitely an eye catcher & my friend has poured allot of money into it. Obviously whoever started this project did the same. Car runs great & rides/drives like an old Mustang. All the gauges, lights, horn, wipers, stereo etc. work as they should. This car is not a rotisserie restored car destined for SEMA or a national show car but is a very impressive driver/local car show quality vehicle that can be driven & is priced as such. I personally have spent about 150 hours of reassembly on this car since it came back from paint. I have addressed everything that I could find that needed attention. I have a folder of receipts for parts purchased & photos of the car when my friend purchased it & then throughout the restoration process. I also have a picture of inside the motor with valve covers removed showing how clean the motor is. This car is 47 years old so I highly recommend & prefer anyone interested come look at, inspect & drive the car prior to bidding. Please remember you are bidding to buy & not to come look at & make an offer. That will not happen. If you cannot come inspect then I recommend you have the vehicle inspected, by a reputable inspection company, or find another car to buy. KNOWN ISSUES- I have put almost 200 miles on the car since completion & have had no problems. Not sure if rear end gear matches the door tag as car seems it is geared lower. Part of that is being spoiled with overdrive transmissions in the newer cars. Speedometer read a little high. Needs gear inside transmission changed to correct this. No spare tire or spare tire mount in the trunk. Temp. gauge probably not accurate. Parking brake does not work/ no cables. TERMS OF SALE- This description is based solely on the writers’ opinion of the car & ,unlike most, I do not claim to be an expert. I’m fluent but the description is still my opinion. You are the only one that knows what you want in a car so you need to come inspect the car prior to bidding. Car is 47 years old & is being sold AS IS WHERE IS with NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED or IMPLIED. Description is based on writer’s opinion & inspection of the vehicle. Winning bidder responsible for any/all future repairs the vehicle may need and any/all costs for such repairs. Winning bidder also responsible for any safety/emission test his/her state, county or city may require & any/all costs incurred in order for the vehicle to pass such tests. Clean & clear TN title will be passed on to the winning bidder. Please INSPECT IN PERSON or have vehicle inspected prior to bidding. $500 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT due within 3 days of auction close & balance is due within 10 days of auction close. I prefer the car be picked up within 10 days of auction close but will allow longer if needed. CASH IN PERSON or WIRE TRANSFER are the only methods of payment accepted.
