Vehicle Detail
Beautiful two owner, inland Southern California owned (very dry climate), mechanically and cosmetically restored (about 570 miles ago), great running and driving 1967 Mustang C-Code Coupe with detailed history and an incredible story behind it. Bought by the original SoCal owner in 1967 then sold to the current owner in 1976, he and his widow have owned it for the last 38 years (see pics for scan of original window sticker and 1976 purchase receipt). It was mechanically and cosmetically restored in the early 1990's (resto completed in 1994) and then parked under cover for 20 years (1994-2014) when he retired and they moved from SoCal to the dry, desert climate of St. George, Utah (about 100 miles north of Las Vegas). Below is a PDF to Text File scan of a 4 page paper letter typed up on 10/14/94 documenting everything he did to it (this Two Star Major General and former Air Force test pilot kept very detailed records of his vehicles). I'm the Ebay go-to guy among my circle of friends and his widow and eldest son have asked me to sell it for them (unfortunately, the General passed away late last year from a very aggressive form of cancer). Title is clean and clear. Please forgive the unevenness of the font in the letter. It was the best file-format conversion I could do to get something typed by his own hand into the description. In the photo section I have this letter scanned in JPEG format which may be easier to read. It's the incredible story behind this Mustang and what's been done to it that I want you to appreciate. My description continues down below his... Carstored & not driven 1983-1989. ) Restoration : Initial work done on car in late summer of 1989 at Travis AFB. Car (still basically unrestored) was driven under it's own power to Norton AFB, San Bernardino, CA when owner was transferred to new command. Engine and transmission were rebuilt in late 1989, but car remained in covered storage and was not run at all. Throughout much of 1990 and the first part of 1991, very little work was done on the car due to frequent official duty absences of the owner. In mid-1991 work was resumed and by mid-1992 the majority of mechanical restoration was completed. During the last half of 1992 and the first quarter of 1993, the interior restoration was completed and the exterior was prepar¬ ed for a custom base coat/clear coat paint job applied by Tony at T-Auto in San Bernardino, CA. Rebuilt engine was run for the first time in Sep 1992. Since that time the car has been driven a total of about 500 miles . Approx 360 of the 500 miles were accumulated when the car was driven to St. George in the summer of 1993. To date car has been stored inside in St. George and run only periodically to maintain the battery charge. K. DAVIDSONSt. George, Utah As you can see, no stone was left unturned in this restoration. I installed a new battery, cleaned out the gas tank and fuel lines, changed the fuel filter, put in some fresh gas, and she fired right up. I've since driven on the freeway and surface streets and she runs beautifully with no rattles or creaks of any kind. Perhaps better than new with the polyurethane bushings. Everything electrical still works great as well. Doors open and close very solidly, windows roll up and down well, doors and windows seal tightly, etc. The only downside is some rubber exterior trim has become brittle, tires are starting to crack, and paint on the roof, one door, and the hood have suffered in our dry climate (see pics). This is a very special Mustang with a great (and documented) history behind it. Right now it only has 70 more miles than it had when the General wrote the letter above 20 years ago. Install new tires and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it cross-country today. Respray the roof only (paint code above) and buff out the door and hood and she's ready to enjoy. Nothing else needs to be done that I can find. My name is Chris and I am happy to answer your questions. Please call me at 435-669-1470. I also have tons of pictures that show every nook and cranny in great detail. Send me your email address and I'll get them to you. And you may want to consider flying in and driving it home. That would be a blast and I'd be happy to help facilitate it. This sweet 1967 Mustang is located in the dry, desert community of St. George, Utah (a little over 100 miles north of Las Vegas). Good luck and good bidding. On Mar-17-14 at 13:19:28 PDT, seller added the following information: Great news. This car is an original black plate Southern California car and I just found the original black plates that were on it from 1967 until the restoration began. What a rare find. Feel free to email me for pics. Good luck and good bidding.
