Vehicle Detail
1980 Chevrolet Z28 Camaro. Newer 350 cid, car was originally a 305 car. The engine runs strong with no noise and no smoke at start up or while running. It was pulled from a IROC Camaro and bored .30 and has a mild cam added. The exhaust is dual with headers and glass packs ending at the rear axle. The origin of the transmission is unknow except for the fact that it was a used and working transmission when installed. The rear end is a 373 with a limited slip differential. The car now has a new radiator, alternator, water pump, thermostat, hoses, vacuum lines, and a remanufactured QuadraJet carb. The engine bay has been cleaned to presentable appearence and could use minor detailing to complete. With that being said about the drive train, it does run and drive very well. I have not put a power steering belt on the car because i did not have the proper brackets for the pump to fit the headers. As for the interior, it has all been reconditioned to a very presentable level of quality, there are a few small cracks in the dash on the passenger side. It has the original Z28 course steering wheel and is tilt. the instrument cluster was replace with a better working one. All gauges and lights work on the dash now, including the tach. The seats are in very good original condition with almost no wear. Rear seat has a small crack in the center at the top near the new package tray. The console is in very nice condition. Lid stick a little. Shifter is factory original slam shifter. The carpet in the car was replace with new blue form fitted replacement carpet with sound deadener backing already installed. All plastic was cleaned and recondtioned using SEM products and look new. As mentioned, the rear package tray was also replaced with a new one. The rear window was removed for painting and found to have no rust around the edges of the opening. reinstalled from local glass company. The rear defog is not working. The headliner was removed and cleaned of the old material and reconditioned using material to match that of a newer vehical. The dome light works but i do not have the light cover. Door panels and arm rest are original and have been cleaned. Windows work fine. The windshield appears to be original to the car with factory brown top shading and built in antenna. It has a small cracked area at the lower passenger corner but does not go into the line of vision so i did not replace it. The dash along the windshield is clean and shows no sign of rust like many of these cars are known for. The interoir is over all in very clean better than driver quality. As for the trunk, it was in very good condition and just needed a wire brushing before i resprayed it using the factory GM spatter paint of grey with white specs. Now to the body of the car. I did not do a frame off restoration to the car, but it was taken apart of doors, deck lid, hood and all trim and flares. The car we then repaired of its minor dents and dings. It was not stripped to bare metal as the paint that was on the car was to bad and made a good base for the new paint. The car was originally a lighter green metallic with lime green factory stripes. I really like these cars in silver, that is why i decided to do a complete color change including jams. Its done in a basecoat/clearcoat and is very straight and shiny. There are a few minor chips and scratches that were not removed in the bumper cover prior to painting but do not effect the over all appearance of the car. The care was reassembled and has new door rubber and trunk seal installed also. The it was accented with the factory striping from Phenyx graffix. The car has all its original trim, spoilers and flares, including the chin spoiler. New windshield and rear window trim clips were installed and the trim itself was reconditioned and painted the factory mat black finish. The floors had a small rust spot on both sides near the toe boards about the size of ur fist, and the rear tail panel under the rear bumper is the only rust i found in the car. The headlights, tail lights, and blinkers work on the car. No reverse lights (might be the switch). The grills in the car are also original and the front grill emblem is correct for the car. The rear emblem on the gas door is correct but the wrong color (its all i had). I located the original style rims and trim right but no center caps. The rims were then blasted to bare metal and primed and painted a charcoal metallic to match the striping on the car. Then new lug nuts and locking nuts were installed. The tires are nice with very much tread left and no cracking. The brakes on the car work and stop the car very well but would probably need replacing due to a low pedal and brake light on the dash. I have described the car very truthfully and as completely as i think i can. As with any car for sale, i do have it listed locally and i always include my personal number in my auctions to be more convienent for people to ask question to better informed before they buy. I HIGHLY suggest asking any and all question before u bid on any car. This car is not a show car, but many levels above a daily driver. It can be driven as is or with the few minor fixes that i have not done, can be nice entry level show car. These cars are becoming more and more collectable and harded to find in unmolested condition. This car is no exception, i spent a great deal of time making this car back to a nice clean original car again. If i left anything out or over looked any details u need to know about this car, PLEASE let me know and i will do my best to take care of it for you. I want to thank u for taking the time to look at my acution and i hope the car goes to someone who can appreciate and respect it. Thanks again and God bless. 989-670-2700
