Vehicle Detail
This is a 1973 (1/2) BMW R75/5 motorcycle. I bought it last year with the intention of making it my everyday rider. It had not run for several years when I got it. I completey rebuilt the carbs and petcocks with BMW parts as well as replaced the diaphrams. Also, new points, capacitor, air filter, o ring seals, fuel line, fuel tank mounting rubber and thumb screws and battery. I got it running real well but it didn't last long. The gas loosened everything up and the gas turned brown. The tank needs to be cleaned well and the carbs just ultra sonic cleaned as the seals are still less than a year old. I did drain the carbs so the fuel wouldn't be sitting in them. The bike had shot gun mufflers but came with the stock mufflers, which I mounted with all OEM hardware. The jets are factory set up. The electrics all work properly except the horn. The horn was handed to me and I will carry on the tradition. The wires are there for it, the mount needs to be welded to the frame. The mirrors are obviously not right. Also the foot tab for the center stand is gone and the rear pivot pin for the seat hinge is missing. Maybe because you can't really swing the seat with the bags. It did not have the reflectors for the license holder. There is no tool box, tools or air pump. The Wixom bags are very nice. The lights are not connected but look complete. I know, someone put a bunch of studs on them but the bags have no sign of water on the inside. It appears that the previous owner got some kind of overspray on the tank. I don't know if it can be wetsanded or chemically removed. It shows in the picture. I tried to show the surface rust in the tank. Its not heavy but its there. Thats what I am aware of. I rode around the neighborhood and it shifted throught the gears nicely and pulled good. It needs more attention yet. Tires, cables, grips and I'd do the rear end service as well. I'd keep it but I just bought a Triumph Trophy so this has to go. With all my other projects, there's just no justifying keeping it. The only key is the one in the ignition. I am including the Haynes manual and a new K&N oil filter plus o ring seals. It will need it when you get it home. I will try and answer all questions. If you would like to see it, you may arrange that. As far as shipping, its up to you but I will work with you on that. Make sure we are in agreement if you need anything from me. I have a valid Wisconsin title in my name. Mileage is unknown. Sold as is with no returns. The deposit is nonrefundable. The bike must be payed for before it leaves here. Please look at my past sellers feedback and you will see that I have sold several motorcycles that buyers have been happy with. There is no reserve and your bid may very well buy it.
