In 1981 Isuzu released a small SUV known across most of the world as the Trooper. Isuzu produced the 1st generation Trooper until 1991, making minor revisions and improvements throughout its production run. These little trucks were renowned for their reliability and rugged simplicity. This 1990 example is possibly one of cleanest 1st Gen Isuzu Troopers still in existence. It certainly is the nicest one I have seen in a long time. I purchased this vehicle from my elderly neighbor who owned it for the past 18 years. He bought it for his wife to replace her 1986 Trooper that was damaged in a crash in 1996. I acquired the truck after his wife sadly passed away. It has been garage kept for most of its life and it shows. The paint is original and is still glossy. There are some light scratches and a few rock chips but overall the paint is in great shape considering it is 24 years old. I was unable to find any rust on the vehicle, which is to be expected since it is from the south. There is one dime size ding on the driver’s side rear door, and a small dent on the lower, passenger, rear quarter rocker panel. I took pictures of both areas for your consideration. The interior is in great condition. When I received the truck it had seat covers on all of the seating surfaces. They were put over the seats in the late 90’s and did a phenomenal job preserving the seats. There are no stains or rips in the upholstery. The original bow style headliner is in great shape with no sagging or tears. The carpet is original to the truck and is still clean and pliable. There are no unusual odors and no one ever smoked in the truck as far as I can tell. The Trooper has an aftermarket Kenwood cassette deck installed with four Kenwood speakers. The truck is currently riding on a set of Cooper all terrain tires. They are a slightly larger than stock 30 x 9.5 R15 size. They have plenty of tread and ride smoothly down the road. I really like how they look with the raised white lettering and semi aggressive tread pattern. The factory steel wheels are in fine shape and look great in gloss white. A full size spare is mounted to the back door with its factory vinyl cover still in place. The cover has two small tears which are obscured with black tape. As usual I took a picture of the damaged cover to document the blemish. The truck surprisingly has four wheel disc brakes which is unusual for a small SUV of this vintage. The brakes have plenty of material remaining on the pads and they stop the vehicle well, without pulling or pulsing. They squeak a little at first but this might be attributed to the truck not getting driven every day. The brake pedal is a little squishy by modern standards but it actuates the braking system confidently every time. The clutch engages smoothly with no chatter. It grips well and is easy to modulate. The shifter feels tight and moves easily between its five gates. It has a solid mechanical feel that is refreshing and reassuring. None of the gears grind and the synchros do their job quietly. The gear driven transfer case offers a 2.28:1 low range and it shifts in and out of 4 wheel drive without any disconcerting clunks or bangs. The truck has automatic front hubs and they engage as they should. There are no check engine lights and the fuel injected 2.6 Liter 4ZE1 4 Cylinder engine runs very well. The truck recently had a tune up performed with new accessory belts. The timing belt and tensioner were recently replaced as well. According to the trucks dash mounted gauges it has excellent oil pressure, and the coolant temperature is rock solid. The truck is equipped with factory A/C and it works well, quickly cooling the interior of the truck. The heater works well and the blower fan works on all speeds. The truck has an extremely low 106,300 miles on it at this time and it drives like you would expect. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. On Feb-22-14 at 14:29:50 PST, seller added the following information: Several people have pointed out that the Trooper is not an LS model as I indicated in the title.  I am sorry for any confusion I may have caused and wanted to apologize for my ignorance of the differences in the different model lines.  It was a mistake on my part and I never had any intentions to mislead anyone.  As best I can tell it is an S model not an LS as initially posted.  This is based on its lack of chrome trim, manual windows and a non split rear bench.  At the end of the day you will be getting the truck in the pictures so please look at them all carefully and bid accordingly.   I will try and post some additional pictures of the vehicles undercarriage tomorrow, if there is any thing else any one needs a close up of please let me know.  Thank you for the interest and good luck with your bids.On Feb-24-14 at 16:47:14 PST, seller added the following information: Sorry about the quality of the photos I had to use my phone since I left the SLR at home.  My friend was nice enough to let me put the truck on his lift so I could take some pictures of the under carriage.
