Vehicle Detail

Sweet 1955 Willys Station Wagon that was mildly modified (engine, paint, tires & wheels) in the 1970's and then used until 1990 when it was parked. It's a classic, vintage build that was very typical of the era (I've seen many just like it over the years) with a 283 small-block Chevy set back low and to the rear in the engine compartment running through otherwise stock running gear. The interior is in VERY well-preserved, original condition. Interior paint is still the factory green. Dash has no cutting or butchery of any kind. Switches, buttons and knobs are still in place other than the choke. Rear wood sliders have aged well and are still secured with the original, hard-to-find screws. Fiberboard door and rear panels are generally solid (left rear panel has some damage but can be used as a pattern). Passenger side floorboard is rock solid. Driver side has an easily repairable hole below the throttle pedal. Vent lever bracket below dash has come loose. Also, I have additional pictures of everything, please ask me for them. The exterior has patina'd very nicely over the years. Only rust issues are in the rear quarter panels and they are very minor (see pics). Rear fenders were mildly modified at some point to accept larger tires. Some kid way back took a pellet gun to the windows but the glass is flat and can be used as a pattern. Windows still roll up and down properly. Wheels are very cool, vintage 1970's Western Cyclones with newer 31 inch tires. They really complete the classic look. Most of the trim is still in place. Spot welds are broken inside hood to the rear (see pics)... easily fixable. Doors must be opened from inside. Other than the driver side floor board, the undercarriage looks absolutely solid. Running gear consists of a fresh 283 (runs beautifully but needs exhaust) connected to the original Borg-Warner T90 (three speed on the floor) and Spicer Model 18 twin-stick transfer case (four wheel drive and locking hubs all work properly). Differentials front and rear are original Dana's. The 283 swap required the fire wall to be cut (above the center seam only) to fit the distributor. 12 volt generator and bracketry (included) need to be installed. Original radiator was moved rearward (no cutting). Brake master cylinder (I am including a spare) and right rear wheel cylinder need to be rebuilt. Clutch linkage and drive shaft (must be shortened to fit... it came from a Willys truck) need to be installed. This is a classic Willys with a typical 1970's refresh that has aged extremely well. Only 40 years of Mother Nature could create such a wonderful patina. I hope it ends up with someone who simply gives it the minor stuff it needs and retains its vintage appearance. Just my two cents. My name is Chris and I am happy to answer your questions. Please call me at 435-669-1470. I also have tons of pictures that show every nook and cranny in great detail. Send me your email address and I'll get them to you. And with the tow bar and decent tires that come with it, it's easily towable. I towed it over 300 miles behind a 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada and it was a piece of cake. This sweet 1955 Willys Station Wagon is located in the dry, desert community of Hurricane, Utah (a little over 100 miles north of Las Vegas). Good luck and good bidding.
