This is what occurred the last time this bike was for sale. 1958 BMW R50/2 Mileage: Over 98,866 on odometer. Under 3,500 miles on rebuilt engine. Engine rebuilt by Charles Johnson in Deephaven, Minnesota.Transmission needs to be repaired, rebuilt, or replaced.Engine starts and runs fine, the gears quit working on December 1, 2013. Bike rode fine on December 1, 2013, but at one point the gears quit engaging. I have owned this bike since 2008 and have ridden it quite often, including a few day-long trips. This bike is set-up to look like an R50 US model, with higher and longer handlebars. Information from BMW: Body is an R60 manufactured on January 23rd, 1958 and delivered on May 12th, 1958 to Butler & Smith, New York, NY. Engine belongs to an R50/2 manufactured in 1968.
