I offer my 1977 Datsun King Cab pickup built and licensed (tags good thru Dec. 2014) under California’s special construction laws (SMOG EXEMPT). I used the age old idea of a BIG engine in a small vehicle equals one go fast, fun, bad ass ride! It gets plenty of attention wherever I go. It launches hard, drives straight and true. The Chassis: I built this truck on a rack so everything is straight, plumb and true! The frame/ roll cage is steel tubing. The front and rear rails are pre-bent and the roll cage is custom bent to hug the inside of the cab. Front suspension is Mustang 2 tubular A arms with coilovers and rack & pinion steering. Front wheels are ICW 15 X6.5 with 165/ 80R tires. Rear has a Ford 9 inch with 389 posi unit, ladder bars, Shock Wave air ride adjustable shocks, wishbone locater, sway bar and wheelie bars. Rear wheels are Centerline 15X15 with 29/18.5 Hoosiers. It has 11 inch front disc brakes with GM calipers, rear are 10 inch mustang disc & calipers. The master cylinder is a 1 inch double Strange unit.12 gal.- fuel cell. It has a full size aluminum radiator with twin electric fans so it never gets hot. The Body: 77 Datsun 2 inch chopped top, firewall moved back to door post, early 80s front air dam, front wheel openings are moved up 2 inches and forward 2 inches, drip rails, bed hooks, and latches shaved. Inside it has Kirkey racing seats with RJS 5 point safety harneses, all aluminum dash / interior & winged tonneau cover. Windows are Lexan. It has a Painless overhead switch/breaker panel and central fused power center with an emergency off switch. There are some minor imperfections in the body and paint but it was built to be driven not hidden in a trailer. The Drive train: 1979 Chevy 454 with 514 lift /310 duration cam, Edelbrock intake and Holly 830 c.f.m. double pumper carb, 5 point poly motor mounts with mid plate, custom ceramic coated headers 2 in. tubes 3.5 collectors&pipes, 30in/3in.core glass packs with 5 in stainless tips- cool cackle and awesome roar under power! Built turbo 400 Trans with 3300 stall converter, B&M Pro Stick shifter, custom 3.5 in drive shaft with heavy duty U joints. I know I have left out some facts pictures and info.
