With less than 1,000 original miles, this 1978 Corvette Indianapolis Pace Car is a stunning time capsule that is a must for any serious Car Guy. These cars continue to escalate in popularity with Corvette fans, and finding cars as well preserved and untouched as this one can be extremely difficult. This one is as clean as the day she left the showroom floor. Pace Car decals were shipped uninstalled, allowing the new owner to decide. This low-mile Pace Car proudly wears the decals and looks like it must have, sitting in a showroom, 35 years ago. Paint is unblemished and exactly the way GM applied it and every panel is aligned as it was from the factory. With less than 1,000 miles, there's absolutely no sign of damage or roadrash anywhere on this car and it's clear that it has been properly stored, protected but driven sufficiently to keep everything working correctly throughout its life. The silver leather interior is equally well preserved, with plastic wrapping on the seats protecting them for years. I don't know if anyone has ever actually sat on the passenger seat. There are no creases, no wear, and not even a wrinkle in the leather. Pace Cars were loaded, too, and this one has every option Chevy could throw at a Corvette: Glass T-tops, power windows, rear defogger, air conditioning, sport mirrors, tilt/telescope steering wheel, power door locks, and AM/FM stereo with integrated CB radio. Powering this time capsule of a Pace Car is the original, numbers-matching 350cubic inch V8. At some point, it appears original owner intended to drive this PaceCar more than he did and gave it a few easily-reversed upgrades, like an Edelbrock intake manifold and carburetor, a set of long-tube Hooker headers, polished aluminum valve covers, and a K&N air cleaner. Original components do come with the car, and for the purist, it will take little more than a Saturday afternoon to take it all back to stock. You'll appreciate the added performance. Sound is AWESOME. Underneath, it's immaculate, from the 3-speed automatic to the fully independent 3.08-geared rear end. Factory markings remain completely intact, and there's no evidence of structural rust or damage anywhere. 15-inch alloy wheels with 225/60/15 Goodyear's were part of the Pace Car package. With the adventof the C7 Pace Car and just generally speaking, it's my opinion 1978 Corvette Indianapololis Pace Cars are undervalued, will always remain strong collectibles, and there can't be many that are as well preserved as this one is. Add in less than 1,000 original miles and it is most definitely an investment-grade vehicle at bargain low pricing start, today.
