Vehicle Detail

Rare muscle car, only 784 manufactured. Rare AMC car, rarer than 1969 SC Rambler. These do not come up for sale too often. This is a Northern CA car that was being bracket raced when I purchased and placed in storage ten years ago. There have been no modifications to the uni-body, rather the previous owner had the stance of the car raised by an Oakland spring shop to accommodate larger tires. Car currently has Lakewood traction bars. I replaced tires and wheels with same vintage AMC wheels. Will include four good used trim rings for these wheels. Engine is modified and built for healthy street/strip. Big cam, mechanical lifters, headers, AMC R4B manifold and Edlebrock carb. Its runs fine, idles best at 1100 RPM and sounds like you'd expect for this kind of build. Transmission was replaced with the later years 727 and the car converted from column shift to B&M shifted on the floor. I have never lincensed or driven this car. Transmission works well but it does have a high stall converter. Brakes seem to work fine, but all mechanically would need a complete check before driving on the street. Interior is rough. Carpet is removed, door panels bad, 70 Javelin bucket seats replaced the original bench seat, dash pad is missing, glove box door is missing, and a few other interior parts missing or needing replacement. Fortunately interior parts were common to all early 70s Hornets. Some rust issues that will need to be addressed during body and paint. Rust in lower door corners left and right. Rust in driver's side floor pan around emergency cable exit; about a 2x5 inch area. Rust in driver's quarter panel around wheel well. See pictures for details. Otherwise this car is straight and solid. Certainly a good candidate for restoration, but needs and owner with the passion, patience and will. I have too many projects and this is not one I am going to get to. Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping of vehicle. Pick-up or shipping needs to take place within 7 days of payment. On Dec-13-13 at 15:47:04 PST, seller added the following information:Was asked to verify this car has a 360 motor. Block casting is 3190806. Had to read this with my scope. Can't see the passenger side casting CI at all, can see the top of the driver's side. Murphy at work as the 3 and the 0 are perfectly clear, but the center number is poorly cast. It sure looks like 6, but could be the top part of a 9 too. Checked several other AMC cars and 3190806 is the same casting number of the 390 in my 69 SC Rambler...and my other SC 360 has block casting 3195528. It definitely has dog leg shaped headers. On Dec-16-13 at 15:33:20 PST, seller added the following information:Pulled the steering box this afternoon and verified that body VIN matches dash VIN. Took another look at the engine size cast into the block on each side. It clearly starts with 3 and clearly ends with 0. Neither center numbers cast into either the left and right are clear (just poorly cast). Based on the casting number and best guess at the center number, I'd say its a 68/69 390 block.
