Vehicle Detail
1989 IROC Convertible 5.0 with the hard to find 5 speed transmission /less than 43,000 documented miles. I'm the 2nd owner-Iwas going to buy a new 1990 IROC in 90 but they they switched to the air bag wheel and yellow dash lettering which really turned me off-so i started looking for a really nice Black 89 with a stick...I found it at Holz Chevrolet in Hales Corners WI. The car was just traded by a local Camaro enthusist who bought a new Camaro every 2 years. The odometer read 16,042 miles at the time for which I paid $15,495.00 and was happy to get it. It had the usual top issues that the ASC cars had-so part of the deal was replacing the top with a new one. It also was ordered new as a stripe/decal delete car....So I had them install just the IROC decals. Again while the car was still under warranty the ASC paint issues which again were very common on these cars especially the back half of the car because they were all touched up and repainted after the roofs were cut. After going round and round with my Chevrolet dealer and the zone rep we all decided a new paint job was in order....so by the time all the paperwork was done it was 1992 that the entire car was redone in black and new decals were applied to the doors again. By that time the mileage on the car was in the mid 30's and I had purchased a few other cars-with that came a larger garage where I could keep it safely and not have to worry about getting a chip in my new paint job.So the Camaro was really used sparingly after that and spent most of it's time resting quietly in the garage with a battery tender. It was only driven in the rain maybe 5 times since 1990...since the new paint job I don't think I have washed it with a hose more than 3 times-usually covered or just dusted then detailer. Some where in the early 90's I changed the tail pipe exhaust to exit one side...I always thought it looked better...About that time the clutch was changed-wasn't really slipping but had a little chatter-so it was replaced. New tires were installed also.and front brake pads. All the raw casting parts on the undercarriage of these cars rust very quickly-it really started to bother me so I had the rear end dropped -wire brushed and repainted along with other parts that needed to be cleaned up This car was always kind of the baby of the family and I never thought I would sell it but I think the last time it was really on the road was 2006 so I think it's time to let it go and let someone else be the caretaker. Check out the pictures-it super straight-the interior is in outstanding shape-runs and drives great-can't think of anything that does not work the way it did when I picked it up 23 years ago.
