Vehicle Detail
Stock, original, complete, good running, one 30 year owner, well preserved 1965 IH Travelette 1100 Custom Deluxe (top-of-the-line) 4X4 short bed half ton pickup truck with the original Line Setting Ticket (see pics). This beauty was originally delivered to an IH dealership in San Diego in May of 1965. By 1983, it had found it's way to central Utah where it was used as a hunting rig from 1983 until 2010 (I even found some vintage hunting notes scribbled on the back of the Line Setting Ticket). It sat with limited use until 2013 when I brought it down to the dry, desert climate of Southern Utah. According to the Line Setting Ticket, she comes with, among other things... * Locking Hubs (which work properly)* Power Brakes (which pull to the right a bit)* Power Steering (which works great)* 37 Amp Alternator (which has been replaced)* 12 Inch Hydraulic Clutch (which works great)* 304cid V8 (runs very well but has minor valve clatter, could use adjustment)* Cooling System Upgrade (runs cool)* 4 Speed Manual Transmission (shifts great, stick has some play)* Divorced Transfer Case (shifts great)* 4.09 Gear Ratios* Travelette Cab* 6 Foot Bonus Pickup Body* Deluxe Trim* Etc., Etc. The interior is solid, complete and original. Typical floorboard rust (easily fixable flat panels-see pics). Vintage cassette deck (still works!) but dash is uncut and unbutchered with all buttons, switches and knobs still in place. Gauges work other than speedo/odo. Some stress cracks where body is mounted to frame. Lights, wipers, and heater still work. Glass is good other than rear and drivers window (flat glass-easily replaceable). Windows roll up and down properly. Doors open and close solidly. And it has that cool gun rack in back. The exterior has some rust and a beautiful patina that only many years of Mother Nature could create. It has had one respray in black over the original red (obviously eons ago). Cab has one decent dent from hauling logs on the driver side rear corner (see pics). Typical, easily fixable rust is concentrated in rear portion of front fenders (see pics) and rockers/cab corners (see pics). Some creativity has been used securing the bed to the frame where the mounts have broken (on the bed only, not the frame-see pics). Tailgate latch has long since broken so it's secured with a strap. The running gear is rock solid other than the issues noted above. It runs well, drives well and steers well. At some point many years ago the rear diff went south and was replaced with a beefy, period correct, Ford 9 Inch rear end with matching gear ratios, It is a very sanitary installation. The gear ratios, width and bolt pattern match the front Dana 44 and it represents the only deviation from stock on the whole truck. If you plan on using this rig as a driver (which I hope you do-just my two cents), this should be considered an upgrade. This is a sweet rig. It's been used for what it was designed for, wears its age marks well, and has been properly maintained over the years. While her completeness and originality make a great candidate for restoration, I think she should be used and enjoyed by the next owner. Vintage trucks like this can be restored over and over, but they are only original once. My name is Chris and I would be happy to answer your questions. Please call me at 435-669-1470. I also have tons of additional pics that show every nook and cranny. Send me your email address and I'll get them out to you. This beauty is located in the dry, desert community of Hurricane, Utah (a little over 100 miles north of Las Vegas). Good luck and good bidding.
