Vehicle Detail
Big style, two owner car, always garage kept, with only 41,981 miles. This car has been in the family since new and has been in storage for the last nine years while I was overseas, and then on the west coast. The car looks very good overall and runs well. I have been driving it for the last several months with no problems. There are small leaks with engine oil, power steering fluid, and coolant so you have to keep an eye on fluid levels but I have had no trouble with the vehicle -- even on several 100-mile-plus weekend trips. Interior is an 8/10 with no rips, tears or heavy stains. Inside is very clean and carpets and upholstery are in very good condition. This vehicle has never been smoked in. Headliner is sagging in some spots and definitely needs to be replaced but it’s not terrible. Exterior is 7/10 and paint looks beautiful. There is some rust on the doors and rear fenders and the plastic trim off the rear bumper has become brittle and fallen off over the years. Some has also cracked off from the right front fender. There are about a dozen scratches, chips, dings and cosmetic issues that you should anticipate on a 35 year old vehicle which are noticeable up close but mostly melt away from a few feet. This has always been a Chicago car so there is definitely rust on the under carriage. A/C blows, but not cold. Heating works nicely. Wipers work fine but the motor that sprays the fluid is not working. When I took the car to a local shop in September for some repairs they said the 5.0 liter V8 engine and transmission are solid. Power steering is baby soft although the wheel is about 25 degrees off and needs to be realigned. Otherwise, all lights, switches, and gauges work to the best of my knowledge. Since I brought it out of storage in September 2013, the car has had brand new; · - Battery · -Tires; balance/alignment · -Rear brake lines · -Rear wheel cylinders · -Oil filter and change · -Center exhaust pipe, muffler This car has big character and -- no joke -- virtually every single time I drive it out people want to wink and nod at me like I’m driving around in a Southern Comfort whiskey commercial. As most of you already know, you just don’t see the build-quality of these 70’s era cars on the road today. This car actually looks like it was built out of metal. Moreover, I never see other late model ‘daily-drivers’ on the road that look this nice and people take notice. If you want to have a cool, classic car where you can do the repairs yourself and bring it back to showroom magnificence, or just a reasonably priced daily driver with genuine style, this car could be for you. People just love seeing this car out and about and I’m looking forward to putting it in the hands of someone who will appreciate it as much as I have. I just bought a 1984 MB 300d which I am hoping to enjoy for the next 300k miles, so the Regal has got to go, I'm afraid. I’ll do my best to answer any questions you may have.
