Vehicle Detail
Beautiful, stock, original, complete (minus engine/tranny/glass/seat), rust-free (other than VERY minor floorboard issues-see pics), 1948 Willys Panel Delivery Wagon. This is the rare one with no side windows and ambulance doors in the rear. What's more, it has the unique Willys transverse leaf spring independent front suspension and two wheel drive specific frame (see pics). It was primered and then stored for years in the dry climate of south-central Utah in anticipation of a restoration that never materialized. All the original parts were stored inside. Front and rear suspension are all stock and in good shape with IFS in front and a Dana/Spicer 23 with leaf springs in the rear. Frame is the early 1946-1949 version which was engineered for two-wheel-drive only. Brakes don't work but it steers well and rolls easily. Tires are vintage bias-ply's with no cracking that I can find and excellent tread. Frame has zero cutting or butchery of any kind and that includes the motor mounts and front cross-member (see pics). This Willys could be nicely rat/hot-rodded but due to it's originality, I think it's a strong candidate for a restoration. The body is incredible. Front clip, doors (all 4), firewall, roof, and right quarter panel are exceptional. Light bodywork was started on the left quarter panel and rear corners but never finished (see pics). And even that was only to repair minor age-related bumps and bruises. Also, there is a small stress crack near the front-bottom of the left quarter panel. And even though this Willys has a two-wheel-drive only pressed steel frame (as opposed to the beefier C channel four-wheel-drive frame), the body will bolt on to the 4WD frame if you want to convert your 1946-1965 Station Wagon to a Panel Delivery... just a thought. Interior is stripped bare but I have everything except glass and seat (which is all flat and easily cut by a glass shop) stored inside (see pics). Again, front floorboards have minor issues (see pics). Rear floorboards, kick panels and everything else are excellent. Dash is wonderfully uncut and unbutchered. Gauges, wiring harness, window frames, door handles, etc. are included (see pics). In fact, I have pictures of ALL the extra parts that it comes with. Please ask for them. This is a beautiful and rare Willys in excellent original condition. I hope it finds a buyer who will bring it back to her former glory. My name is Chris and I would be happy to answer your questions. Please call me at 435-669-1470. And again, I have many additional pics that show every nook and cranny and all the spare parts. Send me your email address and I'll get them out to you. This rare beauty is located in the dry, desert community of Hurricane, Utah (about 100 miles north of Las Vegas). Good luck and good bidding.
