Vehicle Detail

I HAVE OWNED THIS ORIGINAL FACTORY 'DUSTY ROSE' PINK COUPE DEVILLE FOR A LOT OF YEARS, THE ORIGINAL OWNER WAS A LOCAL ELDERLY LADY WHO PURCHASED THE CAR BRAND NEW IN 1957. This car has become affectionately well known around its hometown as 'Ms. Hickey'. This car was bought new at Black Motor Co. in Harlan Ky by an elderly lady said to have been a popular bootlegger. (True Story). My father worked at the dealership in his younger days, and always told me stories of this car, he once showed me where the car was stored in a building since 1971. The old lady that bought it paid cash, even though she had no license to drive, so her husband chauffeured her until he died in 1971 and it was stored until she passed away. I chased after this car for as long as this lady was alive. She swore that the car would go to her grave with her and just as she predicted, she passed away in her 90s. I finally bought the car from her family. I began completely restoring this car back to it's EXACT appearance when she purchased it back in '57 to be a show car. I am NOT going to be able to finish it!! Here's the good: The fresh barely even broken in 365 Cadillac engine has been bored and everything new put in it. I spent THOUSANDS on the engine compartment alone, and it runs as it should. I had the starter and carb redone as well. After sitting in various restoration shops all over country, it may need freshening up. I drove the car about a month ago into an upholstery shop in Corbin Ky (the second upholstery shop I've had it to) and it ran pretty good. The gas tank was cleaned and sealed with sealer, replaced on the car, and new gas line was ran up to the drivers door. The car currently runs from a jug under the hood. Needs only the rest of the fuel line to be ran everyday. The brakes were replaced all the way around, the wheel cylinders, master cylinder, hydro booster, lines, hoses were all replaced all the way around. The shoes were already replaced and looked new. The brakes seem to work well on the car, and I have driven it short distances several times to keep them limber. This car has the ORIGINAL BILL OF SALE FROM THE DEALER WHEN BOUGHT NEW!! I listed it as title 'clear' and I can get a clean current title in my name if the buyer desires. I prefer to keep this original one as I think it makes the car worth much more!! It also has the 1971 license tag receipt AND matching license plate still with it, and original receipts from it's first tune ups and oil changes. The car is document original PINK ON PINK/BLACK INTERIOR CAR!! I even ordered the original OEM factory pink and black Coupe Deville material from SMS for this car!! Be sure to check out the interior pics!!! This car had a PERFECT original dash cover!! I've never seen an original dash cover in this perfect condition!! See those pics as well!! I spent almost 3000 on the interior which is STILL not finished at the moment! Which leads me to my next subject, I am UNABLE to finish this car myself, and have had nothing but bad luck getting it worked on. Everyone wants the money... but no one wants to actually WORK! I've spent almost 20,000 dollars on this car, which should have been (and will be with effort) a 35,000 car.. but it's never going to be finished. I've ran out of money and most of the work I've paid for.. I NEVER got. The original steel wheels were all sandblasted and painted to original color, over a thousand bucks!!! for FOUR BRAND NEW WIDE WHITES were just put on a few months ago!!! The stickers are still showing on them some. The car has new exhaust back to the mufflers (dual).. needs tailpipes. I have a NEW RESTORED rear bumper center, and the ends that are in excellent condition, only need replating!! I also have all of the other rear chrome in good restorable condition. The bumper center is all that has been already re-chromed! It looks awesome.. again THOUSANDS on gathering these pieces. NEW driver's side glasses were cut and installed and if you look in the pics, you'll see that the drivers window isn't rolled up. It was working until I took it to the upholstery shop. I know that the windows on the passenger side work.. and the power seat works. The bad: The biggest thing is, of course, the car is going to have to be completed.. it's so close I can taste it. It is going to have to have some of the work re-done or gone-over, and some just completed. I took it around the block for a cruise a couple times and EVERY head turned!! Cameras coming out every time I stopped!! I have a new original style perforated vinyl headliner which at the moment is supposed to be getting installed as well as brand new GM factory restoration parts carpet!! This car had a good body when I bought it from the relatives. I paid almost 6,000 dollars for a paint job and the car LOOKS AWESOME! However, the guy messed up the rear glass and trim around it. He didn't do the job I paid him for!! I took it to an upholstery shop to have the interior done, and it came back with one door panel unfinished and buttons missing from the front seat. All of which I have. This car is going to have to have some of the work re-done, and some just completed. BUT, it's worth the trouble!! THIS IS A TRUE ORIGINAL PIECE OF AMERICANA AND AUTOMOBILE HISTORY!!! I do not like to list cars here, as there are so many details that are impossible to capture. I'm going to try to post as many pictures as I can of it so you can judge.. but MY STRONG SUGGESTION IS THAT YOU COME SEE THE CAR, as a car at this critical stage of restoration can be very hard to judge. So please call if you are a SERIOUS inquirer 865-278-0377 and leave a message with any questions you might have and I'll get back with you!!! I've done my very best to describe this car as accurately as I can. Nothing can be more accurate than coming to take a look at it yourself... which is what I recommend. THIS CAR WILL BE SOLD, AND I WILL HELP TRANSPORT IT TO THE DOCK FOR INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS!! I RAN OUT OF MONEY AND AM NOT ABLE TO FIX IT MYSELF SO MY HUGE LOSS IS GONNA BE YOUR HUGE GAIN!!! *CAR IS SOLD AS-IS, WHERE IS. I CAN ASSIST WITH SHIPPING SOMEWHAT. BUYER MUST PAY THE 500 DOLLAR NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT WITHIN 48 HOURS, DO NOT BID IF THIS IS A PROBLEM! THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT 'MS. HICKEY'.*
