Vehicle Detail
1968 Mustang Convertible Needs Restored/Project Car Car has been sitting in storage for several years, Purchased in its present condition with intentions to completely restore it. Selling this Mustang in hopes that it will find someone who has the time and energy to restore it as it comes with LOTS OF POTENTIAL!!! This will be sold AS-IS and we will do our best to describe it so you can bid accordingly. From the Data Plate the car was assembled in Metuchen, New Jersey on Feb. 12, 1968 Convertible Body (76B) with Luxury Interior in Black Crinkle Vinyl and Black Kiwi Vinyl (Trim 6A) Original color was Sunlit Gold Metallic (Y), Engine code (J) for 302 with C4 Automatic (W) and 3.00:1 Limited slip axle (E) The car came with AC (still there, not working) and Power top (WORKS!) and also had AM/FM Stereo (original stereo still in the uncut dash) Original seats in good shape except passenger seat bottom has splits shown in pics Carpet is bad. Chrome is pitted and should be redone or replaced. Dash is not cracked or cut and is in good shape but some of the shiny trim around gauges is worn, Center console is somewhat faded and cracking along top edge, Door panels are very decent except armrest tops are worn/cracking. See pics. The convertible top is good except for a very small tear shown in pics and, as I said earlier, the electric power top works but it sometimes needs a little help on beginning closing on passenger side (might just need lubricated) Windows all roll up and down fine with the exception of the driver’s side rear quarter window which needs help Windshield is good, rear plastic convertible top window is faded but otherwise ok. The tires have tread but are old. The engine/transmission MAY be the original but will NOT guarantee originality Car does run and drive BUT is being sold as a non-running project as it has sat for so long. You will need to install a battery, go through the brake system, drain fuel tank (old fuel), replace bad exhaust that leaks badly and other things will need addressed before you should consider this car road worthy. WILL NOT guarantee anything related to the engine or drive ability. It has not been driven on the road since it was driven approximately 25 miles just after purchase over 4 years ago. The car was repainted from its original color a LONG time ago and the paint is bad. There is filler in the passenger rear quarter for sure and likely other areas. The body does have some rust but is not terrible. The floor pan on the driver side is partially gone and the passenger side is also rusty so plan to replace or at very least patch floors. Trunk also has some rust shown in pics and will need addressed. The rear frame sections are pretty good but the front sections have rust that will need repaired when restoring. The odometer shows 96414 miles but no history or proof to prove its accuracy, so assume accordingly Again, selling this Mustang Convertible as a Non-Running Project so plan on bringing a trailer with a winch, or if shipping, tell your shipper it is inoperable so you don't get a surprise upcharge from them. Please email with questions or include your phone number so I can call you back. Winning bidder must contact us immediately following the auction end to arrange full payment within 48 hours of auction ending by either cash in person or bank transfer.
