RARE 1965 PONTIAC GTO! A SPECIAL ORDER VEHICLE WITH PHS! ORIGINALLY A BLACK ON BLACK, 389 TRI-POWER FOUR SPEED CAR WITH POWER STEERING, & POWER BRAKES! THE GTO STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL 12 BOLT REAR END! This GTO retains much of its original sheet metal. As you will see, it is a very solid car and will not require all of your typical sheet metal work. In the late 80's this GTO began a full ground up restoration. It was completed right around 1990 only to be parked away in captivity in 1992. It wasn't until just recently that the car was brought out of the wood works. As you will see, it is an exceptionally nice car to build and will make someone a very desirable piece once brought back to its former glory. Body: The body on this GTO retains all of its original sheet metal. Most of which is very solid and rust free. The doors, rockers, fenders, hood, trunk lid, rear sill, cowl, firewall, tail panel, inner wheel housing, and quarters are all solid. The GTO still retains its original floor pans which are also completely solid. The frame rails are completely solid from front to back. The only sheet metal work that the GTO will require is within the trunk. There are a few spots that need to be addressed. The same can also be said for the trunk drops. These two areas are the only problematic areas that will need attention. So right there someone will be saving a considerable amount of time and money. The four speed hub as you will see is still in tact and was covered up when the car was restored. The paint on the car was done professionally and would definitely show pretty well if it was polished out. All of the trim is in good shape and is complete. All of the glass through out the GTO is also in good shape. Engine & Mechanical: The 389 within this GTO is date code correct and was in good working order when it was parked. I have yet to try and get it running. The transmission was also in good working order when it was parked. For whatever reason, when it was restored, the owner did away with the four speed and converted it to an automatic column shift. The four speed hub is still in tact and was covered with a metal plate. As you will notice, the GTO does retain its original 12 bolt rear end underneath it. Mechanically, I'm sure the gas tank will need flushed or replaced and the carburetor will more than likely need cleaned up and possibly rebuilt. Typical items that need addressed for a car that has sat as long as this one has. I do not have the Tri-Power setup nor the original four speed. Interior: The interior as you will see is complete. The only two items that I do not have are carpet and a headliner. Most of the interior will need redone. So here is that rare opportunity to own one of the most desirable Muscle Cars that were ever manufactured. Not only is this one of the most desirable GTO's out there but clearly this is one of the most well optioned cars that you will find. It has been quite some time since I've found one this rare. I will be evaluating all reasonable offers and I will in fact sell the GTO early as we do have it for sale "locally". My goal here is to sell the GTO.
