Vehicle Detail

I purchased this little 350 from the son of the original owner. He had inherited from his father's estate upon his passing. All of the miles on this bike were put on by the original owner. According to his son he dropped it and broke his arm. Upset and deciding not to ride again he took it in his garage, sprayed it down with a paint sprayer full of 50 weight oil, put it in a corner under a tarp and there it sat pickled for some 42 years! Not sure what to do with it the son offered it for sale locally and stated that if it wasn't purchased he was going to give it to his daughter to ride! Being a classic bike lover and not a collector I rescued this beautiful little gem in the hope it will find the safe haven it deserves. After bringing this time capsule home I began the process of cleaning decades of accumulated oily crud with only dawn dish detergent and warm water. After hours and hours of love I was able to uncover what you see in the pictures, a wonderful example of a 45 year old classic in amazing original condition. I am not saying the bike is perfect it does have a few flaws. There are places on the left side and the headlamp where you can tell it was dropped. I have tried to show these in the pictures. There are several paint chips on the tank. The spot above the gas cap is not a chip I believe it is a paint drop. I made the decision to keep the bike all original instead of replacing any of these parts even though I did find them available. That will be the decision of the collector that aquires it. There are some minor surface pits in some of the chrome. Mostly on the turn signal posts and the carb tops. I am sure most of these will polish out but again I decided only to clean and not to polish, wax, or attempt to buff any of the original surfaces. As for mechanicals.. The tank was full and has very little interior surface rust so I drained it and refilled. I did change the spark plugs and the oil. I had to replace the battery. After putting a couple drops of oil in the cylinders I crossed my fingers and on the third try she fired right up! Both electric and kick starter work. All electricals function as they should. Even though the tires are original I took it down the road about a quarter mile. The gears shift fine up and down and all seems in order. I was sure it would be it's barely broken in! There is a slight right cyclinder valve tap at idle which disappears as it revs. I am not a qualified mechanic so will not attempt adjustment. This is my first Ebay Motors listing so if I have left anything out please feel free to contact me and will answer any questions or send additional photos as needed. Winning bidder to deposit $500 via PayPal withing 48 hours, the balance to paid upon pick up in no more than 7 days. I would ask any long distance buyer to please arrange for shipping as I am pretty much clueless on this but will try to work with you. Local pick up is fine. Best of luck and Thank you! On Sep-13-13 at 12:39:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Important Update 9/13: I have this item for sale locally as well. Had a fellow stop in today to look at it. Started up fine, he took it for a short spin, all good. Made an offer I turned down but the important thing is after he brought it back I noticed the tach was wavering and not keeping acurate track of the revs. Not sure if is the cable or not but I thought it important to disclose this.
