Vehicle Detail

This may be the nicest R100R in North America outside of a museum. It's not perfect -- I do ride it -- but it's close. I would rate it an 8.5 / 10 and it would take very little effort to make it a 9 / 10. The Paralever R100R was the next-to-last of the BMW air-cooled twins and many would say it represents the peak of the airheads in terms of reliability and handling. It is a beautiful motorcycle and always makes me smile. I have owned many airheads over the years and next to a museum-quality R90S (that I deeply regret having sold) this one is in the best mechanical and cosmetic condition of them all. It comes with panniers in excellent condition that are keyed to the ignition. It has heated grips. Comes with center stand and original BMW auto-retracting side-stand. It has a power accessory socket. Original owners manual is in fair-to-good condition. Seat is in excellent condition. Has the tool tray below the seat but does not come with a tool kit. Tires are in good condition. There are no electrical or mechanical problems. Everything works. Battery is less than one year old. I have taken good care of it. The previous owner was fanatical about its care and it shows. Reason for selling: I have three motorcycles and one car crammed into a two-car garage. They fit, barely, but getting anything in or out is a headache. I wish I had more room. This is the motorcycle I stare at the most but ride the least. If I get a bigger garage some day I will regret having sold it. 29,377 original miles. (Mileage will increase as I ride it.) Clear California title. Tabs are good to April, 2014. A word about photographs: Photographs tend to hide small imperfections and make a motorcycle look better than it does in person. The cosmetic flaws are minor but you will see them when you look closely. There is discoloration and bluing on the exhaust. Light surface oxidation on the chrome engine guards. The tank has a shallow scratch about half an inch long (it's hard to see and might buff out). It also has slight discoloration that appears to be from a chemical that dripped on it and damaged the clear coat (might have been gas that didn't get promptly cleaned up). You can only see it up close and when the lighting angle is just right (it doesn't show up on photographs). These imperfections are what keeps it from being a museum-grade motorcycle. If you are a collector this would be a good candidate for taking it to the next level of cosmetic perfection.
