COMPLETE Mechanical and Cosmetic Restoration. 3,487 miles since complete rebuild. (12,925 current odometer mileage) (41,132 original odometer mileage). VIN 2971505. NO RESERVE!One of the cleanest BMW 75/5’s you’ll find out on the road. Has undergone a complete front to back, top to bottom, inside out electrical, mechanical, and cosmetic restoration. Have all receipts organized in binder. Well over $12,000 invested, but with two infants and a toddler, I never get to ride her anymore. So, though it pains me, it is time to try to place her in a good home with someone who will appreciate just how special she is.Project began with a complete down-to-frame tear down to the individual nut, screw, and gasket level. Everything was then cleaned and degreased. Various chrome parts were then re-chromed. Those we were unable to get cosmetically perfect, or which had outlived their useful life, were replaced with BMW OEM parts. The entire frame was then powder coated with exact color match. Tank, front and rear fenders, and headlamp housing were then sent to the one painter in California at the time with the original BMW paint formulas who repainted each part and added pin striping to fenders. All non-chromed metal -- engine casing, hubs, cylinder sleeves, and other metallic parts -- was then completely stripped, de-greased, and walnut shell blasted to clean and restore finish without leaving any abrasive residue within the engine. The entire engine and its internals were then completely rebuilt with BMW OEM parts – rings, brackets, bushings, seals, gaskets, etc. by Irv Seaver BMW in Orange, CA. All components of the electrical system, wiring harnesses, etc. were also rebuilt/replaced by Irv Seaver BMW. When chrome job on wheels turned out to be less than perfect, they were completely rebuilt using BMW OEM parts by Canton Cycles (BMW) in CT. Mufflers, exhaust piping, handlebars, shocks, shock covers, and various other Magura and BMW OEM parts were added/swapped out to complete restoration. (One concession was that newer Koni shocks were used rather than BMW OEM shocks, though did install new BMW OEM shock covers).PICTURES SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. This bike is a truly unique jewel.Am aware that she is a 1970 model with a toaster tank, but that was the work of the prior owner. Same goes for the custom seat that he had made for her. This is a SWB bike. Frame lacks battery cover brackets, but they are secured with spring and industrial-strength double stick tape. Has under seat tool tray, but not original tool kit. Has original plastic "aero" key, as well as additional ignition and under seat lock keys. Will throw in cylinder wrench, oil filter, foot pegs, battery straps, and various other spare parts. Will also throw in BMW battery tender and Nelson-Riggs cover. New owner will receive binder with all receipts from restoration and service records. Winning bidder must pick up bike or arrange for shipment. She now lives in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta, GA. Winning bidder must make immediate $500 PayPal deposit and contact me within 72 hours of winning auction to arrange inspection, payment, and next steps. I am fine with sale being contingent on full mechanical inspection at buyer's cost. Full payment due within 7 days of auction, or within 48 hours of complete mechanical inspection, whichever comes first. Remaining balance must be paid by USPS money orders or bank check only. Please email me with reasonable questions before bidding. Can send additional pictures and copies of receipts with work done. Clear title. Never been down. No trades.Question & AnswerAnswered OnQ: Are you saying that the only things on the bike are not technically correct for the year are the seat and the chrome tank panels?Jul-23-13A: As a 1970 SWB, it shouldn't have a toaster tank or the chrome battery covers, as these two items didn't come out until the 1972 model year. And yes, the seat cover is non-OEM on the original pan. Rear shocks are also Koni, inside the chrome OEM covers. I think that covers it.Q: Do you have any pics of the way side covers are held on? I notice the bike has New York plates but you're in Alabama. What is the status of title and registration? ThanksJul-22-13A: I had used a heavy weight spring connected to the attachment lugs on the battery covers to hold them together. I had then used 3M double stick tape to attach the covers to the frame. When I went down to the garage to take additional photos of how everything was attached, the double stick tape had pulled away from the frame in places, so I just took the covers off. They are recently purchased OEM parts, and will come with the bike. The new owner can keep them, and try to figure out a better way to attach them, or simply sell them. Bike has clean NY Title, and now resides in Atlanta, GA. It has been garaged, except for the occasional warm up ride, since coming to GA, and it not currently registered.
