Vehicle Detail

1954 Ford F250 This classic fatfender beauty was purchased in 2009, restored and updated. It features the original 223 inline 6 cylinder engine (which was rebuilt) and 3 speed manual HD transmission. NO overheating problems at all. Truck runs down the road straight and fine. Tires were new last year. Front disc brakes and a dual master cylinder were added along with a toyota power steering conversion. All new hoses and brake lines installed. New steel fuel tank installed. This truck was stripped down to the frame and redone. The stock suspension was overhauled with new kingpins and bushings. Frame was scrubbed and coated with POR 15. All the wiring has been converted over to new 12 volt negative ground. New battery and alternator with all new wiring. New carpet and custom interior installed. All new glass installed. The original dash instruments were not hooked up except for speedo and odometer (they are accurate and work). I installed a new gauge cluster that gives better readings than the stock gauges ever did. It starts and runs good. We have driven this truck over 1300 miles since it was road ready last year. The rear end was changed out to a Dana 44 (3.73 gears). Allows the truck to run at 65-70mph down the highway. It features a custom wooden flatbed with decorative stake sides. This truck was rebuilt as a daily/weekend driver, not a show truck. It still has some small dings but any rust was removed long ago. It is 95% finished. Needs a e-brake cable and driver side door latch needs replaced. Drive it like it is or spend the time at your pace to finalize it. The paint job is new but has not been wetsanded out and buffed. Family obligations are forcing me to sell the truck now. It has a clear Michigan title. If you have LESS THAN 10 FEEDBACKS, Contact me PRIOR to bidding or I will cancel your bid. Vehicle is for sale locally so I reserve to the right to end the auction if its sold. Please ask any questions prior to bidding. Willing to work with a transporter or fly in and drive it home. Willing to sell internationally. Truck will not be released until full payment is received. I accept CASH only or bank wire. No checks, money orders or certified checks. Vehicle must be picked up within 10 days of close of auction. On Jul-12-13 at 11:33:28 PDT, seller added the following information: To answer a few questions that I have been asked. The truck is a F250 not an F100. The F250 has a 118" wheelbase and came from the factory as a flatbed or 8' box. It was originally Meadow Green according to the serial plate. The frame HAS NOT been shortened or chopped and is original to the truck. F100 had a shorter 6' box that year. The 1953 was the first of the F100 series. Prior to that they were sold as F-1, F-2, etc. 53, 54, 55 where visually identical and the parts interchange. In 1956 they had a big window option and the doors were shaped differently. The 1954 was the only year that had the "fang" front grille, giving it a distinct look. As for parts availability in the future, these trucks enjoy a huge aftermarket support so parts in the future should not be a problem. I have had a lot of questions about dependability, etc. This truck starts and runs fine. It has been driven to 2 out-of-state truck shows this year and drives good. Having said that keep in mind that it still has the straight front axle design and no a/c. It drives like a truck did, does and should. It does not drive soft like a car does but it does ride a lot smoother than it did originally. It has never had any upgraded front IFS suspension added to make it ride like a modern truck. One certainly could be added and this truck would be a great candidate for a front suspension upgrade but not required to simply enjoy it. On Jul-12-13 at 11:37:34 PDT, seller added the following information: 53, 54, 55, 56 f100 f250 f350 On Jul-13-13 at 17:52:06 PDT, seller added the following information: I wanted to thank the 2 people that came out and checked the truck out today, it was great taking each of you for a ride. I hope I answered all your questions. For those that couldn't make the drive I did want to answer a few more questions that have been emailed to me. The F250 originally came with a Timken split-rear end axle. The top speeds for that setup was about 47 mph. You to remember in those days most people didn't drive hundreds of miles per week. Most vehicles, especially trucks were used on the farms and didn't "go" to town much. When I purchased this truck it was showing 54000ish miles. It would be a fair assumption that that meant 54,000 miles and not 154,000 miles. Since it was redone, the original rear axle was removed and a Dana 44 rear axle from a 1955 F100 was put in. The gearing is better and now allows the truck be driven at higher speeds. Also, since everything was rebuilt the truck really tracks down the road nicely and doesn't fight you like some of the old vehicle do. There was a few questions about "finishing up" the truck. As it sits, the truck has and can be driven down the road. All lights are functional and the truck has been driven in rain and at night. We have attended shows out-of-state and driven the truck there. When it isn't going someplace, it has been stored inside a garage. Personally, I didn't redo this truck to put it some place and not drive it. The paint needs to be wetsanded out someday (great winter project) and buffed out. Right after it was painted I had parades and shows to go to so I just never have taken the time to finish it out. This is a great truck for someone that either wants to drive it like it is, wants something to drive while working on it or wants to take it to the next level. A lot of the hard work has already been done. I have over 1500 hours of work into the truck and over $10,000 into parts, etc. They say that you never recoup your time and that's true but I hope the next home it goes to will enjoy it just as much as I have. On Jul-13-13 at 18:00:59 PDT, seller added the following information: The truck has a V8 emblem on the grille. The truck HAS the original inline 223 6 cylinder motor. The grille would normally have a 4 pointed star to symbolize the 6 cylinder. When I redid the truck I had a nice new v8 emblem so that is what I used. The 6 cylinder star has the same mounting holes and can be purchased new if someone wanted to change it back. I just carry a small can of V8 in the truck when someone asks. On Jul-15-13 at 16:27:26 PDT, seller added the following information: I had a couple of more emails I wanted to share with everyone: The truck has had all maintenance performed on it in the past month and is ready for the road. Oil was changed, gear lube changed, all grease zirks greased. It is ready for pick up and use. If the bid goes over $7000 it will include a full tank of gas. The truck was painted with a single stage enamel. I will include an extra quart for touch ups, etc. There IS NO CLEAR COAT on this truck. While clear coats look great they never used BC/CC systems on these trucks 60 years ago. It was an enamel. Someone could cover up or redo the truck in BC/CC but as it is right now, it is an enamel. The truck was undercoated when redone. I didn't want to worry about rain and road debris. I wanted (and have) to drive this truck to shows and not worry about rain, etc. The truck was insulated when it was redone. The entire inside of the cab was covered in insulation and then carpeted, etc. It cuts down the heat and noise. A couple of people have asked about taking delivery. I have the title in hand, ready to go. I live in Kalamazoo, MI. I can pick you up at Amtrak, Greyhound or the Airport for free. As for delivery, I can deliver the truck for a fee. PLEASE contact me prior to bidding if you wish to have the truck delivered. I WILL only deliver the truck if we have agreed on things prior to bidding. Also, the truck needs to be paid for and picked up as stated in the auction. I can, because of logistics, store the truck. Lastly, I had 2 people come out and look at the truck. They have entered their maximum bids for the auction. I felt it was better to let the auction run its course and not sell it out from underneath everyone because I do have out-of-state interest. If you want this truck, now is the time to bid and make it happen. Thanks.
