Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a 1961 Rambler American Convertible. This vehicle was purchased by my son 14 years ago, and I began helping him with the resoration while he drove it. Work stopped on it about 12 years ago, and it has been stored indoors since. Much of the mechanicals have been taken care of. From front to back, the radiator has been replaced, the head has been rebuilt to include hardened valve seats, the fuel pump was replaced, as was the Holly carb. Brakes were redone, and the gas tank was restored by Gas Tank Renew. The gas tank was drained after it was parked, so there is no worry of stale gas. Steering gear is good, and power steering pump worked well without leaks when parked. The brakes are still up, but should be checked out before driving. Although the fuel pump and carb have had very little use, sitting in rough on the rubber in them, and you will want to check them out. The car will need a battery. I have hooked a charger up to it from time to time and cranked the vehicle, so the engine turns without problem. Wide white wall tires have very few miles on them, and no weather checking, but are over a decade old. The body is very nice, but will need minor ding work, paint, and an interior, as well as a new top. When the car was purchased, there was front end sheet metal collision damage, but the damaged metal has been replaced. Original left front fender, with minor damage but no rust, comes with the car. There is a kink in the drivers side of the hood, pictured, which will need to be addressed. The hood latch is from a '62, and due to a change in grill styles that year, is hard to get at through the grill to open. It can be openned using a screw driver, but I would suggest modification or replacement. The body is essentially rust free. What you see in the photos in the floors and trunk floor is light surface rust only, easily resolved with sandpaper and primer. There was one rust hole, small, near the front of one of the rear quarters which I repaired years ago. Sorry, I don't remember which quarter panel. All glass is good. Chrome and stainless are presentable, with minor dings in the stainless. This should be a fairly easy retoration at this point. You are welcomed to ask me questions, or come by and inspect the vehicle. Since the vehicle has not been started in over a decade, I cannot promise that it will start for loading, and would suggest a trailor and comealong. I would not attempt to drive the vehicle home. I will respond to questions promptly, and check my email each morning. The vehicle is being sold without reserve, and is worth well more than the opening bid.
