Vehicle Detail
No!... it's NOT a Pinto! This rare and collectible Mustang II Fastback has been in California with it's original owner since 1981. It was made in Detroit, MI - assembled in Dearborn - delivered to Heiser Ford in Milwaukee, WI - and quickly made it's way to San Diego inside a moving truck. It's been garaged or covered most of it's life. This Mustang was driven daily for over 30 years. In it's younger days, it cruised Lake Front Drive in Milwaukee- with the top off and radio blasting! Relocating to San Diego, it was the perfect car to fit right in to the California lifestyle. It's been pampered and babied like a spoiled child, admired at local cruise nights and car shows, but eventually had to take 2nd or even 3rd place to larger family vehicles. It was still driven to work daily, but didn't get quite the attention it was used too. About a year and a half ago it went into retirement, with 260,375 original miles It still runs, but has been parked because of stringent CA smog laws. With a little 'creative' tuning, it can still pass- but the synchro is gone in first gear. It's acquired some bumps and bruises over the years and has a few battle wounds that should be noted. The hood is a tweaked from an unfortunate rear-ender, and the drivers door is slightly crunched from a little old lady backing into it. Rubber seals are dried out and leaking a bit and carpet is aged and sun-worn... as is the rest of the interior. There's a a little bit of surface rust developing on the back hatch and a tiny spot on the lower left front fender. It's had a small oil leak since 100K miles, which proved to benefit the underside of the car. It kept it rust free, and kept all moving parts operating smoothly. Most original parts are intact except for wear items. (even some light bulbs have never burnt out!) Currently, the cost of getting it back into the shape it deserves, outweighs the available funds. Rather than let it deteriorate further, it would be nice to see it in the hands of someone who could give it the attention it needs and continue to enjoy it for years to come. When it's running good, it's extremely reliable and very fun to drive. And when it's looking good, you'll look good driving it!Or... it would make a hell of a good parts car. :(This car is sold AS IS... no warranty... no smog. A California buyer will be responsible for smog certificate.
