Vehicle Detail
Beautiful rust free red Fiat Spider 2000 convertible that reflects the care of ownership it has seen since new. Owned for the past 20 years as a classic/collector car and driven sparingly on nice weather days. Only 7,000 miles logged in the past eight years and exclusively serviced by an italian car specialist. Always garaged. This 5-speed is the last of the carbureted versions and is essentially stock except for a new aftermarket cd stereo. Original documented miles are only 76,000. The interior is clean with no tears and rips on the seats... the dash is free of cracks which is quite rare. The wood dash is excellent. Includes custom Fiat carpeted floor mats. Everything works except the clock. The console has the typical cracks in the plastic near the emergency brake. I have a brand new console that will come with the car as I've yet to install it. The exterior had a professional respray of the original red about 8 years ago and still looks fresh. The tan convertible top is brand new- installed in May and has never been wet. Trunk area is pristine. Has a nice chrome trunk luggage rack. Chrome bumpers are excellent. There is no indication of any previous body work. The cromodora wheels were recently painted and they have new Fiat wheel caps. This Spider runs like a top- the oil is clear and the only leak is a very small one from the rear differential. The prior owner said he topped it off every spring. My mechanic checks it and I've never had to add fluid yet. The first thing I asked the previous owner was about the timing belt. Since he had only driven it 8,000 miles in the prior 7 years he had not changed the belt and I do not have service records from the prior owner to indicate when it was last changed. It's a fairly simple job that any mechanic can do and the belt is recommended to be changed every 30,000 miles. A new timing belt and water pump will be included with the car and the new owner can have it changed when they prefer. A new Monza exhaust was added about a year ago. I'm 6-2/210 and there's plenty of room for me in this car to drive in comfort... roomier actually than some other convertibles I've owned including Miata's, MGB's, TR6's etc. Comes with boot cover, manuals and some service records. As a personal aside- two years ago I owned an Alfa Spider of the same vintage and the Fiat is head and shoulders a more comfortable and better designed driving car- just an opinion for what that's worth. I'll consider reasonable offers and am happy to show the car 7 days a week subject to setting up an appointment in advance. Recent rain forced me to photograph the car inside a garage. The Spider looks even better in the light of day... come see for yourself. I would have no hesitation about driving this car anywhere- around the block or across the country.
