Vehicle Detail
I am selling a used 1998 Volkswagen Cabrio GLS. I bought this car last year with the hopes of driving it on the weekends, but it turns out that I never have time to use it. It's just taking up space in my garage and I'd like to move it out. The exterior is Jazz Blue, an attractive and rare color that I believe was available in 1998 on the mk3 Cabrio. Interior is tan leather. It has a 5 speed manual transmission, power doors, locks and top, leather seats and aftermarket CD player. The car starts, runs and drives but does need some TLC. The worst is that there is some bodywork above the passenger side rear wheel well. It looks like a bad bondo job and the paint does not shine in that area. Parts of the car have clearcoat damage I would guess from being out in the sun. This is on the hood, the trunk, and above the windshield. The front bumper has some cracks and the cleacoat is peeling. The front passenger's side fender has some dents. The body is otherwise decent but by no means perfect. The interior shows age also. The drivers side seat is torn on the bolsters. The driver's side window will not roll up more than a few inches. The power window is weak on that door. The power top is not working but can be closed manually. The convertible top has a tear on it and is dirty. The rear console and cup holder is broken. The AC does not work, not sure if it can be fixed. The car has brand new tires this spring and the wheels were all balanced at the same time. The steering feels a little loose and the rear brakes make some noise and should be looked at. The exhaust is in good condition. I have not changed the oil, spark plugs or timing belt. It would be a good idea to go through the maintenance of the entire vehicle if you intend to drive it a lot. In summary, with some basic maintenance and some paint work I think this car could be good for someone. Because of the age and condition, I must sell the car as-is where-is with no warranty. I can't let anyone use my license plates to transport the vehicle so please do not ask. I have a clear Massachusetts title in my and my wife's name. I will ask that a $150 deposit be placed if you cannot get the car within 48 hours. Thanks for reading my ad and contact me with any questions or for pictures of anything.
