Vehicle Detail
1983 Chrysler LeBaron, Mark Cross Edition. I bought this car four years ago and have never put the top up. The top was only a couple years old, and I'm sure its fine. Needs a new hydraulic cylinder for the top lift, but I never cared because I can manually assist it up, if wanted. Cylinder is available on eBay for $100. The car is garaged if not a great day to drive it with the top down, but in three seasons of each year, it is almost a daily driver. It is fun to drive. Needs a radio, but who would want one. Needs an A/C compressor, but who cares? A great looker for parades. Overall runs well. Windows work well. Heater works well. Has new transmission. Has new battery, and new front shocks. Has new front brake calipers and brakes. Should be aligned, but I haven't cared about alignment too much. Wire wheel covers, but not perfect ... well nothings perfect on this car ... its a Lee Iacocca Chrysler sold by Ricardo! Buyer gets the Time magazine adv page pictured, too! Wife is buying a new Beetle Convertible and so this too, must be gone. For Sale locally, and I reserve the right to sell it. If you want it, come and get it. My loss will be your gain.On Jun-24-13 at 15:12:14 PDT, seller added the following information: Normal.dotm 0 0 1 513 2927 Greene County Court 24 5 3594 12.0 0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false (Couple folks want more information, here it is.)This car is being sold "AS IS - WHERE IS."Please come judge for yourself. I have a 100% rating selling of some complicated items, because if anything, I try to undersell and make sure buyers gets a good square deal. I'm not a used car salesman. The only guarantee though, that I can give you, is that this car will need something, soon. I know its not relevant, but hear it out. I paid over $4,000 for this car and I have enjoyed the service we've had with it. It takes service and it gives service. But, if you don't enjoy tinkering on a car, why would you buy a 30 year old car?! My guarantee is that it will want something. (It needs its brakes bled right now.) But for the joy it has provided our family, if it has needed it ... it got it in the winter layover. Who would believe that a 1983 car is now 30 years old?Who would believe that a 1983 Chrysler would have a Mitsubishi engine? Who would believe that a 1983 Chrysler "K-car" would repay government bailout? Who would believe that a TV Pitchman from Spain (Wikipedia: Ricardo Gonzalo Pedro Montalbán y Merino) and a CEO from Italy (Iacocca) could sell millions? Who would believe that if you owned it, you would sell it - no reserve? For almost five years now, every day after work and a good dinner, if the sun is shining (we don't care how cold it may be - blankets and heater works) wife of 30 years and I make a simple decision: go North, South, East or West. We set the Garmin on Home then try to get lost, turning onto every road we've yet untraveled. Our goal is to have travelled every road in our county, and the next, and we're going out for a ride in it tonight. This is certainly not a sports car -- but it's sporty, isn't it? If the kids are home from college we all go screaming, for ice cream. Their friends always want to take it. EXTERIOR: No rust anywhere, I can say. It has been garaged all its life -- which started in Pennsylvania, then went to Arizona for retirement, but then I bought it, and brought it back to Pennsylvania, and its been in a garage every day since. Wood grain plastic is funny, isn't it?! Its fine. I shine it up in detail once a year and forget about it. The white paint is original and shines up fine too. So does the chrome. Luggage rack on the trunk is just plain sexy. I have a two bicycle rack for for the rear that goes with it. What a great day that always is. Touring then biking. BRAKES: Though my buddy put all new brake pads on this car in March, the pedal is a little spongy and he tells me that they should be bled. ENGINE: When I first bought the car, I did lots of reading and decided to put a newly rebuilt carburetor on it. It leaks a tad of oil around the valve-cover gasket. Nothing I worry with. Starts and runs well every time. Doesn't seem to use any oil. TRANSMISSION: Newly rebuilt last winter, by a pro. Shifts fine. TIRES: Pretty white-walls, but will want new ones next year or two. I'm told that front end needs aligned. I have worried with it. HUBCAPS: I wish it had all brand new ones, but it doesn't. Nicks and dings and one center piece missing, but looks good. CONVERTIBLE TOP: Well I hadn't had it up for years, but it did go up on its on accord, and I see it has a tear or two at the top back corners only. Back window is clear and fine. Boot is good and snaps on/off well. PAINT: I didn't wash it up for the latest pictures. No rust, but has some spots here and there. Don't buy this car if you expect a show winner. Its a driver's car. Any questions, email through eBay. Thanks.
