1961 Ford Thunderbird Convertible - NO RESERVE One Family Owned until 2011 This nicely preserved convertible was owned and cared for by one family for more than 40 years! Taken care of by the original owner from 1961 until about 1991 and then by his son until 2013 when it was brought to our facility for service and now available for sale. The paint seems to be almost all original except for some touch ups over the years. Only 77,000 original miles on this time capsule and the car runs and handles beautifully. The seats and interior have been well taken care, the back seat is like new and the front seats have little wear on them. The convertible top was replaced a few years ago and functions correctly (power top) and the trunk area is very clean and tidy. The engine compartment has been nicely detailed. This vehicle is a very nice and with a little TLC could be a show car if you desire. The paint shines nicely, but due to its age is starting to show signs of slight cracking in the trunk panel and some small cracks in the fender. You can not notice them until you are right up on the car and truthfully it is nice to see an original vehicle still in tact that has been well maintained and serviced, instead of a shiny new paint job on a car that has not been mechanically serviced during its lifetime. Preservation is becoming the preferred method for so many collectors and this 1961 Thunderbird exudes it with patina in the right places showing its age in a classic style. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being a newly restored vehicle) I would rate this car a 7-8. It has all the options that one would expect in a Bullet Bird including Power Windows, Power Seats, Power Convertible Top, and Power Brakes. Also, the previous owner decided to put in an alarm system that works from the key fob and is a nice deterrent from those who wish to attempt to drive away with the car, it actually stops the engine from being able to be started without pressing the button on the key fob. All gauges are in working order (except for the clock - needs to be converted to quartz). The radio works properly and the antenna allows for listening to AM radio. Don't miss a great opportunity to own one of these Birds before they go up in price, they are becoming very popular and 1961 is the most desirable year to own. They are highly collectible and are allot of fun to drive, this one has been on road trips recently going to events and it performs great.
