Vehicle Detail

1995 BMW K1100LT sport touring bike with 77,300 miles. The good: Runs well. Engine, gearbox, clutch are all in excellent condition.Very presentable for a bike of this age.Good tires. Front tire 80%, rear tire 60%AM/FM/Cassette stereoABS brakesElectric windscreen worksHeated handgripsLocking panniers and top box (with light and mirror)Clear CA title and tabs are good to November 2013 The not-so-good: There are a couple of paint scratches below the right mirror. They don't go very deep and could be touched up. Otherwise, there are the usual small chips and nicks for a bike with this mileage. You can't see most of them from ten feet away but up close they are visible. The stock windscreen is aging and becoming cloudy. I can see over it so it doesn't bother me. You may want to replace it. If bidding gets to $3,000 I will throw in a new, never installed ZTechnik VStream windscreen: LinkPrevious owner swapped the 18" wheels with newer, lighter 17" wheels from later BMWs. Some owners did this to lower the ride height and reduce unsprung weight for quicker turning. Although it is stable at high speed it feels less planted at low speeds. Other people do prefer the 17" wheels (see the web forums to get different opinions.) I am 5'10" so reducing the ride height is of no benefit. If I were keeping the LT and had the 18" wheels I would put them back on. If you're shorter than me the 17" wheels might help you reach the ground.I suspect the alignment of the ABS sensor wheel isn't as perfect with the wheel change. The ABS warning light comes on when you get over 70 mph. I have not had an opportunity to engage ABS at high speed to verify it works. Summary: The "Iron Butt" long distance competition riders prefer the K1100 LT. I can see why. It's comfortable whether commuting to work or criss-crossing the country. BMW's inline-four "brick" engine is bullet-proof. These motorcycles can go 250k miles or more with ordinary maintenance. The is a nice running, presentable and solid touring motorcycle that needs nothing except a new home. I took a couple of videos and made a YouTube movie. You should be able to play it at 1080p: Click here for the YouTube video I have an Ebay feedback rating of 100% and intend to keep it that way. I have bought and sold many motorcycles on Ebay. Motorcycles look better in photos than they do in person. The camera tends to hide small cosmetic defects. It is best to see it in person before bidding or send a friend who is local to see it on your behalf. This motorcycle has been modified with 17" wheels. Some people like this change, others do not. I have described it to the best of my ability but keep in mind it is a used motorcycle and comes with no warranty. $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the close of the auction. The rest is due before it is picked up.On Jun-15-13 at 20:32:57 PDT, seller added the following information:I had a brain failure and left the light on. The battery ran down. I replaced it with a new BMW battery today. Too bad they don't sell replacement brains, too.
