Up for auction is a very rare 1956 NSU Special Max 250. This bike has the famous "Ultramax" connecting rod driven over head cam. These bikes were very expensive to produce and this bike would have been the same price in 1956 as a BSA Golden Flash 650. As a result, not many were sold in the United States. This bike is in running condition with no blue smoke and the engine runs sweetly. I got this bike from the guy who found it in a barn. I have had all of the shiney aluminum professionally polished. I installed new spokes and rims from Germany and the tires are new. Also new are the seat cover, knee grips and handlebars. I have installed a new lock on the battery box as well. The lights work and the engine starts easily. There is a repaired head fin and a small repair on the engine case. I tried to show these in the photos. I didn't see either fix for years after I bought the bike so they are almost invisible. The fuel tank is in good condition on the inside. Overall the bike is very strait and complete. Parts availability is exellent from a number of dealers in Germany over the internet. I've had the bike for a while and I have left the paint patina as it was when I got it and I rode it like this for years at vintage motorcycle events here in the Minneapolis area. I noticed that the rear brake pedal wasn't installed when I took these photos. It has now been installed. Please take a good look at the photos and let me know if you have any questions.
