Vehicle Detail
This beautiful 1985 K100 is truly one of a kind. With just over 11,000 actual miles and in incredible condition, I’ve enjoyed this beauty immensely the past 3 years. It was given to me by a former employee over 15 years ago who received a large inheritance. I then had it in covered storage until early 2010 when I decided to get it road-ready again. Had it repainted with a nice Pearl Metallic and had extensive maintenance work done (see list below). All in all, the expenditure was well over $3000 to bring it up to its current excellent condition. Note the custom Corbin seat cost over $600 alone! It’s still just like new. Always garaged, there is no rust anywhere on the body that I know of. Never been dropped hard or wrecked, essentially original as far as I know. My former employee, Pat, told me he bought it from a true BMW K-bike fanatic in 1988 and the engine had been ported and polished to performance perfection. The custom top of the line "Luftmeister" headers and muffler were the finishing touches. I’ve had many people comment that this is the best sounding bike they’ve ever heard. Not so incredibly loud, but very aggressive and mean sounding with throttle on! (The baffle is removable if you really want to get noticed!!) This bike really turns heads! More than once I’ve heard “Great looking bike!” from the younger neighbors. One thing I did for my personal liking was to have the handle bar mounts modified and set back about 2 inches to give a more relaxed and up-right riding position when desired. For older guys like me, this is much more relaxing than always semi crouching. But you can still easily hunker down in the euro crotch rocket style if you wish also! This just made the bike much more relaxing for cruising around town IMO. A truly great sport touring bike! It's got plenty of power from the 1000cc, DME fuel-injected, inline four cylinder engine. This was the world class super bike in its day. The chassis is incredible, handling the tightest of curves with ease and keeping everything rock steady no matter how badly you break the speed limit. My brother and I had it out last week and were cruising smoothly at 90+ without a hiccup. And the Brembo brakes (dual discs in front) will bring you right back in line with the law in a serious hurry. The sport fairing and smoked upper wind deflector does enough to keep you stable and comfy at highway speeds. And with the optional hard travel bags (included if the reserve is met), you've got enough storage space to tackle any size trip. I'll also include a primo Haynes service manual if the reserve is met! With just over 11K original miles, it truly runs and rides great. The nearly new Metzeler tires only have about 500 miles on them and plenty of tread remaining (see pictures). The paint is definitely great overall; there are a few small touch ups, but easily 9/10. All original snap on covers (battery and coolant reservoir) are intact. This bike does NOT leak or use oil! No pending mechanical issues. Upgrades since 2010 Pearl White Metallic (Gorgeous!) Custom Corbin Seat. Fantastic comfort and beautiful looks!! New right and left handle bar controls (turn signals, horn and light switches, etc) Fuel injectors Rear Brake Reservoir Fuel pump and filter Platinum Spark plugs Mirrors Custom relocated handlebars for 2” better reach. Greatly improves comfort! New tires front and rear (Correct Metzeler OEM type!) Thick smoked 'Clear Bra' tank protectors Rebuilt front forks Normal maintenance, oil and coolant New rear brake pads Battery (I would suggest getting a new one perhaps, as most don’t last much more than 3 seasons) The bike is located near the city of Denver, Colorado. If you are local and would like to see it in person, please call 303-766-4504 to set up an appointment. Shipping a motorcycle can be expensive, so be sure to check prices. The zip code here is 80016 to help in figuring shipping. I have checked and it should be somewhere in the $500 – $600 range depending on the location. I have some contacts with a local motorcycle shop who may be able to help. Winning bidder picks up in Denver or arranges for / pays for all shipping / crating, etc. I may deliver within 100 miles for a fee. Bike must be paid in full before any delivery can be arranged. $500 deposit via PayPal is due within 48 hours of auction close. Remainder can be paid via a standard payment method within seven days. Funds must be securely cleared in my bank before delivery can be made. You must cover my PayPal fee (about 3%) if you wish to pay the remainder off in PayPal. The bike is to be picked up within three weeks of auction close. If you intend to ride it away, you must obtain a proper temporary registration / permit before delivery.
