Vehicle Detail
My wife and I just bought a house and it needs new kitchen cabinets and appliances. And as a result I'm selling my prized 1966 Mustang Coupe. I have worshiped this car and spent lots of money on it, but my kitchen renovation project has me in a position where I need to sell my second car. I put a new windshield in it 5 weeks ago, six weeks ago I bought four new Torque Thrust D wheels and tires so I could fit a Mustang Steve disc brake kit inside of the wheels. Ten weeks ago I bought a new Edelbrock Performer 1406 and replaced the fuel pump. Eleven weeks ago I purchased a second axle and rear end from a Ford Explorer, cut down the tube, sleeved it, welded it together so it fits, resurfaced the rotors, and purchased new spring perches. Twelve weeks ago I put in a new set of gauges, but unfortunately I haven't hooked all of them up (the cluster and the sending units are included as is the old cluster, the speedo gauge is electronic so it can be programed to work with any rear end ratio). In the fall of last year I replaced the radiator (with aluminum), raditor overflow bottle, starter, battery leads, battery tray, battery (with an Optima), and alternator, removing the original style voltage regulator system. I sent the clutch pedal out to have Mustang Steve rebuild both the clutch pedal and brake pedal with roller bearings so the clutch and brake operate like a modern car. I also replaced the Z-bar(clutch equalizer) and installed an adjustable lower linkage rod so the clutch is smooth. In August I purchased a rebuilt 5 speed Wolrd Class T-5 transmission, adapter bell housing, flywheel, 450hp clutch, clutch fork, and block plate. The bodywork was done 10 years ago and the paint is holding but showing its age with some hazing. There are a few bubbles (in rear driver side fender, front right fender, drip rails) the front bumper is tweaked from a tow strap, and the rear bumper is original chrome and pitted. The stock open diff has a slow fluid leak. The brake, head, and turn lights work, but the signal canceler does not (I have a new one of those included in the sale). All of the extra parts (disc brake conversion kit with Mustang GT calipers and rotors, rear end, matching bell housing, matching clutch cable, matching Mustang Steve cable clutch conversion kit) are included with this sale. I also have an extra set of American Racing tires and rims that are in really great shape which are also included. I have a set of Try Y headers that need to be blasted and painted that are included. This car drives anywhere, stops and starts when required. With a few more weekends and the installation of the disc brakes and 5 speed it can drive like a modern car. But as it sits, is great to take your wife to dinner and use for pleasure on nice days. Test drives and inspection are encouraged. I live in 33301, Fort Lauderdale, FL, close to the airport. Please call me at 305-741-3866 if you have any questions. I will accept cash or a wire. I will also accept a bank check from Bank of America or Wells Fargo that was issued by the teller in front of both of us, and I will be happy to coordinate transport. On May-08-13 at 11:44:24 PDT, seller added the following information: Thank you for the interest. I am sorry to revise, but the wheels presently on the car are Chrome 17 inch Torque Thrust M, not D. And the tires have fewer than 300 miles on them. The carb is a 1405, not a 1406. And the front windshield was just replaced on 2/26/2013, and is tinted above the AN1 line (like a modern car). Just to be clear the car presently has a top loader 4 speed in it and the original open dif, which both work fine and can handle freeway driving with ease. The T-5, the T-5 cable clutch kit, and disc brakes are not installed yet, but are included. And the reason why I chose the Explorer rear end was to take advantage of the nice parking brake, the 3.73 limited slip the disc brakes, and the beefy 31 spline axles. The pedal rebuild was $330 on 5/8/12. The clutch cable and conversion kit were $384 on 8/21/12. The disc brake kit, proportioning valve, master cyl, and accompanying parts are from a 2008 Mustang GT, and I'm including the Mustang Steve bracket set which cost me $230.00, the GT2008 FT brakes set $ 200.00, the Master cyl $ 75.00, the proportioning valve $90.00, with shipping was $650 from Mustang Steve on 2/28/2013. The rebuilt trans was $1700.00. The Torque Thrust M wheels were $1,239.02 from Tire Rack on 2/25/2013. The old wheels are Aluminum Torque Thrust 15s, which are also included.
