Vehicle Detail
Hi Folks. I am selling my 1968 BMW R69S. This motorcycle was restored last year by Jeff Koch from Traverse City, MI. He is the owner of Garfield Auto Service. He restores old BMW motorcycles and old BMW Isettas as well as many other vintage vehicles. Check out their website to see some of their restorations. http://www.garfieldauto.com/restoration.php I have only ridden the motorcycle 40 miles or so since it was restored. The engine and transmission rebuild was done with the help of Craig "Vech" Vechorik, owner of Bench Mark Works. He is definitely one of the top BMW restoration men in the world. Here is his website: http://www.benchmarkworks.com/ Some of the rebuild highlights include: Engine rebuilt, crankshaft inspected, pistons first oversize, all valves and springs replaced, new gaskets, new stainless fasteners, transmission opened and inspected/adjusted. Replaced both kicker and idler gear, resealed all with new gasket set. Rear final drive resealed. Rebuilt carbs. Carb # 1/26/75. Drive shaft sealed and new rubber boot with new gasket set. New wiring harness. All new cables. All new rubber grommets. New shocks. Original aluminum Weinman rims respoked. Bearing packs rebuilt and resealed in hubs. New Heidenau tires, new exhaust, new seat. Brand new paint over original tins. Basecoat/clearcoat finish. Hand pinstripe over clearcoat. I have tons of receipts and paperwork documenting the restoration. This bike starts up with just a few kicks even if it has been sitting for several months. Starts easily, runs great. Just purrs going down the road. I don't know what else to say about this motorcycle other than it is in exceptional condition. Absolutely gorgeous! After I got the motorcycle back to my home in Ohio, I rode the motorcycle for about 20 miles and then changed all of the fluids. Engine oil, final drive oil and axle housing oil. I am selling this bike as well as several other BMW and Japanese motorcycles over the next couple of weeks. It's time to do a little downsizing. All my motorcycles are kept in a climate controlled shop. I am a very particular person and keep my vehicles in top condition. I am a fanatic about maintanence and cleanliness as you will see if you decide to make a visit. All my motorcycles are stored with fuel stabilizer and Seafoam in the fuel tanks which are full of 93 octane. I think you will be very pleasantly surprised with the beautiful condition of this motorcycle. I would venture to say that this is one of the nicest R69's in existence. Seriously. I have this motorcycle for sale locally, so auction may end at any time. Thanks for looking!
