Vehicle Detail

I am selling my 1950 Buick "Super" 2 dr hardtop. I bought the car with the desire to build a custom "lead sled". I believe the shape and silhouette of the early 50's Buicks looks amazingly similar to that of the 49 to 51 Mercury (which many consider the Holy Grail for customs). I have included some examples of how others have taken a 1950 Buick and transformed it into a really cool-looking hot rod. Unfortunately I've found that I don't have the time required to build my dream so now you can buy this car without the huge price tag normally associated with a 50's Merc, and have the beginnings of an outstanding candidate for a great cruiser. This is a very solid and straight car. It has its original drive train with the Fireball Straight 8 engine and Dynaflow transmission. The car is 99% complete with all the stainless trim, new seat covers, and miscellaneous small parts in the trunk. The pictures show surface rust but this really isn't anything to be worried about. The only real rust that needs to be repaired is the bottom of the valance panel below the truck and side panels on the hood. Other than those small issues this car is amazingly solid and structurally sound. The body is straight as an arrow and the fender and lower rocker panels are rock solid. I tried to show in the pics how clean and solid the frame rails and floors are from the undercarriage view. The interior and trunk floors are solid, but the floor transmission cover is missing. Everything else is great! I have not started the engine but the crank turns over so the block is not frozen. The motor appears to have all its essential parts and you can see from the photos it is really clean for a 63 year old engine. The interior is complete but the seats and headliner need to be recovered. The glass is in good shape and the stainless is straight. This is NOT a parts car. . .this is a good platform for someone who wants a project car that is not your run-of-the-mill, everybody-has-one early 50's Chevy or Ford. The car is located near Annapolis, Maryland. Transporting the car will be the buyer's responsibility. Please ask if you have any questions. My name is Lou. Thanks for your interest. - - - A little more history for those interested. Many call this the “buck-tooth” Buick because the large teeth in the grille actually extend below the bumper. It is the only grille ever designed and built that actually exceeds the boundary of the grille cavity. Also, this was the first year for the Buick “Riviera” model which was considered extremely innovative because it eliminated the center door post which had always blocked the vision for those passengers sitting in the rear seat. This model really streamlined the look of the roof. This car was a big change from the Buick of the 40’s.
