this car is a head turner! summer is coming - put the top down and get to the beach! message me to see videos of me driving her around, idling, etc. - or look them up on youtube - i have them posted under the titles, "1971 vw bug in san francisco", and "1971 vw bug in san francisco 2", or you can search my videos under my username, "solipsize" I learned how to drive in this car, my first, in 1990. its been my commuter vehicle. I rebuilt the engine, which now has 53k miles on it. it starts up and idles beautifully. i take her on fairly long trips with no problems. she takes hills like a champ. original am/fm radio with the one speaker on the driver side. she handles great on the freeway, drives strait and fast - i take her past 85 miles and hour, no problem in the last two years ive done the following restorations: new transmissionnew clutchnew brake lines, sealscompletely re-wiredresurfaced drumsalignementnew seat upholstery front and backnew carburatornew distributer and cablesnew windshield wipers and bladestires with about 2000 miles on themnew wheel bearings in all four wheelsnew generatornew light bulbsnew fusesdings have been reshaped, and areas primed for painting she needs new window seals, a hazard light knob, new headliner and outer cover for the top (someone cut into it !), needs a touch up on the welding points between top and body of car
