Vehicle Detail

1 of 350 produced 1989 JAGUAR Vanden Plas Majestic, as produced in original condition and color scheme for this limited edition luxury model: Regency Red Metallic Paint, Connolly Magnolia Tanned Leather Seats with Mulberry Piping, and Color coordinated Regency Red Diamond-Turned rims specific to this special introductory year car (the Majestic Badge ran from 1989 to 1992). This is a high-rated Carfax / clean-title with NO ACCIDENTS, 2-owner, 1989 all-original with less than 98k miles on the clock! Included with this sale is all original Green-Vinyl-Covered Owner's Manual/s and documents, including Jaguar Majestic Dealer Press Release [Majestic Letterhead Announcement / Car Photo / Image Slide /etc.] ALL for this truly unique badge Jaguar XJ6 which includes functioning VDP wood-grain rear-seat picnic trays, with room enough inset for a split of Champagne each… More info about this VERY LIMITED EDITION car can be found here – http://www.jag-lovers.org/modern/names.htm(see section on “Majestic”) With a site dedicated to the model, here – http://www.oocities.org/xj6_majestic/ I utilized these resources when I bought this car a few years ago: at that time it had 500 less miles than it does today (We just don’t drive it that much, we have always intended to baby it - at less than 100k miles, always - and keep it in the family till it appreciates more; but were losing our garage space for it and finances are at a premium to go elsewhere). As it is you get the car with 97,721 Miles DOCUMENTED ON THE TITLE – which is clear, in my name, and of which the car is currently being driven / is Registered / and Insured – so the miles may vary by a couple digits in keeping it running around the block as part of its maintenance during the interim of the Auction - but, again, the MILES ARE DOCUMENTED on TITLE and will be DOCUMENTED on yours. We recently sold our 1977 Jeep Wagoneer on this site, and we're hoping for an equally pleasant experience with this model, as we have several other cars we will be listing as the year progresses. I have noticed this model is slowly increasing in value: based on recent Mecum results 1 Majestic 1990 sold in 2011, and audience reactions at 2012 Greenwich Concours over another Majestic 1990 model (And though this is an even rarer first-run 1989 with even fewer produced that year - this IS NOT a Concours condition car by-any-means; BUT it is a drivable classic – you could put it in daily-driver rotation per-week if you were a working-class collector like me – and especially capable as it drives safe and soft / starts right up and runs well / and has NO WARNING LIGHTS what-so-ever indicating any errors). Though not perfect. It is currently trouble-free – keep fingers crossed – Here is what I have replaced during my ownership: Shocks / Brake Master Cylinder / All Sway Bar Bushings / Drivers Window Switches / Oils, Fluids, Filters & Head Gasket (this has kept it going for our use) You have heard of Lucas and Jag Electrical Gremlins: we had this addressed by removing the Seat Belt Passive Restraint Control Module (this means you fasten your seat-belts manually as it should be – don’t be fooled by the “lifetime warranty” associated with these cars and the Ferrari Seat-belt Systems – it’s best to disable them and work it all on your own; NO BUZZING, NO BELT-CATCHING, NO DEAD BATTERIES, NO RUINED ALTERNATOR. There's no new parts for the warranty anyway. So I do have the removed part if you want to re-install, though I wouldn’t recommend it)… Just drive this car home, enjoy it, and picnic out on special occasions. What would I address if keeping it? (Honesty is the best policy)! Well, I addressed the Brake Master Cylinder - currently there IS NO SQUEAKING or GRINDING but it will need brake pads at some point. The Drivers Side Front Floor Carpet is missing (it has 2 Large floor-mats, so hardly noticeable, but I would source a real one if having the time), the Drivers Seat has some cracking and has seen an attempted dye-job by P.O. to fix or hide / I have cleaned it up as best I can / and just sit and ignore it thus far (but you can still get the Connolly Leather to reupholster from Paul’s Jag in Ft. Lauderdale if you want & I spoke to an upholsterer in town that would do the labor for "a couple hundred bucks"); photos should also show a small dent in passenger front fender near headlight, I have it in photos, it was there when I bought the car so you REALLY HAVE TO GET UP ON IT TO SEE…And I just discovered, recently during photos of car here, that the Drivers Side REAR PASSENGER Door only opens from inside. Hmmm. You could paint it too, but why, the color and patina are original and match the Majestic-specific rims.A/C Blows, but it doesn’t feel cool enough, though it is FLORIDA and SUMMER is HERE already - so judge accordingly. BUT ALL POWER WINDOWS ROLL DOWN / up, just fine, EVERYTIME. So NONE of these things prevent you from driving this 2-owner car daily, keeping it as it appreciates in value as 1 of 350, and checking off the “Limited Edition Jaguar ownership” box on your to-do / bucket-list. I love these cars, I am happy to show it and answer any questions you may have, I would also like to reserve the right to cancel the Auction early if local sale catches before first bid – but if bidding begins, and you have some days to do this, its on – this is a NO RESERVE auction, highest bidder gets this car, with low-miles, all promo documentation and bragging rights (as I have no idea how many of the original 350 of these cars produced, are still on the road; this is the ONLY 1989 first-year-run Majestic model that I - or anyone I've spoken to at shows - has ever seen). On Apr-26-13 at 07:49:38 PDT, seller added the following information:I received a question in regards to the suspension, drivers seat, and tires: I responded and checked the box to make sure Q&A was listed for Watchers/Bidding review (but eBay failed to attach these items; so I have listed below)… · The “undesirable” hydraulic rear suspension WAS REPLACED in April, 2012 – I have a receipt for the work done then, as well as other work performed during that same service – you WILL get a copy of this receipt with the other paperwork if you are the winning bidder (the suspension work was performed by the same shop that did the similar spring-shock service for our Land Rover to replace it’s VERY UNDESIRABLE air shocks). · For the interior: all the wood and leather is really near mint – none of the wood is cracked, and the rear seats look as if they have NEVER been sat in; even the passenger seat is very tasteful for the age – that said, the drivers seat is a weird exception: though it hasn’t lost any bolster support, and the lumbar is great and aside from a few cracks and one blemish, of which neither go all the way through the leather (for some reason the P.O. still felt a need to try and color-dye the seat, and it shows, I have photos I can send to clarify the night and day difference of this seat versus the other 3 in the listing photos) · The tires are 4 great-condition matching MICHELIN SYMMETRY Tires with white-strip highlight; they go nice with the gold-leaper and merlot interior carpeting, over the top style: I performed the Lincoln-Penny-Test on all 4 tires (since I’m not good at recommending miles or %). The 2 front tires cover Lincoln’s hair and go into his mid-forehead, 2 rear tires cover just his hair and line-up with the top of his forehead.
