Vehicle Detail
I've always been a Ford guy, so when this puppy caught my eye, I had to react. Kinda the same old story, in that it was sitting beside a house, here in Idaho, and had been for several years. Come to find out, it had been resting in an adjacent town for many years (over 10), and was moved due to security concerns. I contacted the owner, and managed to bring it home. The wife was not thrilled to see it gone. When they bought this kruizer, it was for a daughter (my parents never bought me a cool ride), and that's why it was painted with pearl. The original color is crappy tan, and it had been changed to maroon at some point, along with the upholstry. The maroon was a very good paint job, but now white was the chosen color. Unfortunately, the white was not a great paint job. It is presentable, but the trim was not removed, and sanding was not done well adjacent to the trim. So, the paint is peeling along the trim parts. There are a couple spots where the paint is bubbled from underneath. The paint has not broken or cracked, and the spots are not noticable, as can been seen in the pictures. The trim is good, and the bumpers are straight, although there is a spot on the front bumper where the chrome has peeled. NO rust, just chrome coming off. The underside of this kruizer has the typical surface rust, however the pans are very nice. NO work to be done. The interior was done in the same pattern as the original, but with a heavy cloth material. The dash was painted. Overall the interior is okay, but could stand to be detailed. The windshield is cracked, and the rest of the glass is fine. The headliner is in place, but needs to be replaced. This XL was born with a 289/cruisomatic, and when the Dad was fixing it up for his daughter, he installed a 390 with a C6. The motor and tranny were rebuilt before installation. Needless to say, it runs great, and shifts just as it should. The stock shifter was connected to the C6 with a homemade linkage, and could stand some refining. I replaced the power steering pump, carb (2-bbl), fuel pump, gas tank and sending unit, and all the brakes. It could stand shocks, but my preference may not be the same as a buyers. I replaced the mufflers and tailpipes, with the pipes exiting just behind the rear tires. I love the sound of a nice FE mill, so I used short smitties, and I gotta tellya, it sounds awesome. This Galaxie is really a joy to drive. It does not shake, rattle or roll, and runs right straight down the road. Now, the inevitable question.......why am I selling it. Go back to the first sentence. I have a '63 500XL 427/4-spd, a '66 Custom 500 with a 390 4-spd, and a '53 with a 6 cyl 3-spd/OD and split manifold, and a vintage racer running a Ford V8-60. I'm just a sucker for old Fords, and don't like to see them sit and gather dust. I will add pics of the underside in the next couple days, and any other pics requested. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, and I will respond promptly. The wheels on this puppy are genuine Mopar police units. They are 15" X 7" and the tires are brand spank'n new, with less than a hundred miles. I'm not anxious to let the wheels go, so here's the deal. Read carefully. If you hit the Buy-it-now, I will lower the price by $200.00, and install a set of "real" American Torque Thrusts (15"X7" and 15"X6"), with the same new tires. Think about that!!!! On Apr-11-13 at 07:49:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Persuant to a couple comments, I have added a closeup shot of the upholstry material. The seat face material is not velour, but a broadcloth weave. Now I'm not a fabric pro, but that's the best way I can describe this material. Any questions, gimme a call. Bruce (208) 695-3956 Thanks I'll add underbody shots soon. The horn ring is missing. I will include one, or discount the cost if the BIN is used. Also, when the C-6 tranny was installed, the crossmember was relocated a bit, and the E-brake was net hooked back up. On Apr-11-13 at 18:45:36 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that there are five of these Mopar police wheels.......On Apr-13-13 at 18:15:54 PDT, seller added the following information: One more time, I forgot to mention that I installed a new heater core, as the original had a wee leak. Heater controls work fine.On Apr-13-13 at 18:20:43 PDT, seller added the following information: REMEMBER!!!!! iF THE BUYER WANTS, I WILL INSTALL A PRETTY DARN NICE SET OF AMERICAN RACING TORQUE THRUST WHEELS. THEY ARE 6'S AND 7'S, AND ARE REAL AMRERICANS, NOT ETs OR SOME OTHER MAKE BELIEVE WHEELS. I WILL CHANGE THE TIRES WHICH ARE CURRENTLY ON THE CAR, AND ARE BRAND NEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
