Vehicle Detail
My 1972 Plymouth Duster 340 Mopar Muscle car is an original Duster 340/4speed manual car with the original VIN matching number 340 engine and correct fender tag. It has a Mopar Dual Snorkel hood scoop mounted to the steel hood, still sports the original/rare SHARKS TOOTH Grill (in excellent condition), and the correct Mopar rear wing/trunk lid/mounting hardware on the steel deck lid. The car was originally purchased in GA and after the owners death his widow sold the car to a Mopar family in New Jersey who primarily used the car for hobby and shows. I purchased it from owner #3 who bought it to replace the 340 Duster he had in high school but never got around to completing this car after he started a total resto of a Barracuda. After sitting in storage for 7 years he decided it was time to let it go. I've owned the car over two years and have also decided to change directions. This car is very original cosmetically but the running gear has been upgraded to a higher performance level. It's running a mid to high level performance CAM that was identified as a Mopar Purple Shaft model. I have never been inside the engine and could not guarantee those claims, but the car runs and idles fine on premium pump fuel. Other upgrades include an MSD ignition & coil, Holley 750 cfm carb on an Edelbrock aluminum intake, exhaust headers w/Flowmaster mufflers and rectangular exhaust tips, and a 7 quart oil pan. I was also told that the Mopar 833 4 speed transmission (w/Hurst Shifter and white cue ball shift knob) is equipped with a Center Force clutch. The sub frames have been neatly connected, the drive shaft has a safety hoop and the rear end is the original type 8 3/4" Mopar with a 3.91 gear and SURE GRIP (posi) center section mounted on new Mopar Super Stock leaf springs. The engine is VERY STRONG. I have never pushed it even close to hard, but the torque IS THERE. Gauges include a working factory speedometer and water temperature gauge in the dash, a 4" Tach mounted discreetly just below the dash along with a 3" oil pressure gauge. The Dupont base/clear paint and body work are show quality, nice black bench seat interior- including very nice door panels and arm rests, brand new molded carpet and dash pad, detailed trunk (note: battery has been relocated to the trunk and mounted w/NHRA approved container w/positive disconnect switch), detailed engine, plus NEW bumpers and very nice Cragar SS mags all around-14" in front, 15" (new) in back. This car starts/runs/drives/stops very well. Please note that this is a raw Detroit Muscle car and had few options-no power steering or brakes. You won't mistake it for a grocery getter. I'm a retired Mopar enthusiast/owner - not a dealer. I possess the proper FL title which is in my name. The car is located in NORTH FLORIDA (Tallahassee) just 30 miles south of the GA border directly on I-10. I will be happy to help with any shipping arrangements or questions you might have. There is a very reputable National Car hauler terminal in town that I could deliver to. Fender tag and decode are listed below.
