Vehicle Detail

This is my 1965 Dodge Dart hot rod. It has been built as a very low maintenance bracket racer for my grandson and myself. Originally a slant six three speed manual trans car. After extensive body work, I first built it with a correct 1965 273. Although it still has 273 decals. it is now powered by a very mild 360LA engine, 9 1/2:1 compression ratio, hydraulic cam, .480 lift 292 adv. duration, adjustable rockers, 750 Holley, MSD ignition, distributor built by 4 seconds flat. The trans is stock, freshly rebuilt with a Cheetah reverse valve body, 2400 convertor, deep pan. The rear end is a shortened 1965 B body 8 ¾ with a fresh 4.56, spool, and Moser axles. Hooker headers and mufflers. Electric drive on waterpump. Aluminum radiator and electric fan. Stock shifter gate modified to eliminate overshifting (PR123). The body has stretched front fender wells to allow for the taller front runners. Rear is tubbed and Hoosier DOT tires are on the rear. Tires and wheels were new when I installed them a couple of years ago. The entire front suspension is new. Every bushing, tie rod end, and ball joint has been replaced. It has SS springs and long travel rear shocks. The front shocks are 90/10’s with six cylinder torsion bars. The hood is fiberglass as are the bumpers (1966 model) and dashboard. Has an eight point mild steel roll bar. Front and rear subframes are connected with 2"X3" mild steel tubing which also passes through the floor and is welded to it. The rear subframe has the MP inboard spring pockets installed. K member is stock. Steering box is freshened stock manual setup. Trunklid, doors, quarters, have internal bracing removed. Front inner fenders replaced with mild steel roll bar tubing. Solid motor mounts, rubber trans mount. Driveshaft loop. All lexan windows. Drivers window operates up and down using seatbelt as did the early super stock Mopars. Line lock. MSD ignition. Later model large ball joint A arms and ball joints. Wildwood disk brakes on front. Large Mopar drum brakes on rear. Large 4 ½” bolt pattern on all four corners. Ran 7.90’s at Northwest Tennessee Motorsports Park, shifting at 5400. Car weighs approximately 2700# plus driver. Car is consistant, very very low maintenance, uses premium pump gas, runs cool, and is a lot of fun. I use an alternator to keep the battery charged for the MSD, yet the electric water pump allows for rapid cooling between rounds. Car has a fuel cell but uses a Carter high performance mechanical fuel pump. A mount for a Carter electric pump is welded in place near the fuel cell. Wiring for the fuel pump is also in place. Auction winner will have the the option of purchasing a fresh, 1967 904, factory high stall convertor, cheetah shifter, spare steering column, as well as a set of 1.6 aluminum rocker arms, new in the box, and a well built 273 of 1965 (proper for 1964, 1965, 1966) vintage, and a 5.13 suregrip. The 24' enclosed car hauler and Chevy Silverado dually will also be available, for purchase to the winner. The car has a good VIN and a clear Tennessee title. It is currently licensed to comply with class rules. It has working headlights and taillight for the same reason. Low side of the two stage RPM limiter is actuated by footbrake for consistent staging. This little "A" body is pretty fast due primarily to light weight. Light weight+mild engine=low maintenance consistency. In the interest of complete transparency, please keep in mind that this is a race car, not a show car and has what I would call a 10 footer enamel paint job. This is a great deal and opportunity for someone lookin for a low maintenance racer, or even someone looking for hot rod parts. I am usually available to show the car. Please look at it before bidding. I may be able to deliver for $1.50 per loaded mile after payment in full. I have a lot of dollars in this Mopar. My reserve is literally pennies on those dollars. I am located outside Camden, Tennessee which is 85 miles west of Nashville, 125 miles east of Memphis. Call John at (731) 441-4925. This is a really short description, and barely scratches the surface. I have a few pictures taken during construction. If you need further pictures, just ask. Be sure to include your email address. On Apr-04-13 at 10:28:53 PDT, seller added the following information: The car is ready to go. Needs nothing other than a new owner and fuel.
