We have successfully tried the "No Reserve" auction format several times in the past and have decided to bring it back with this 2006 Kia Sedona. You're probably thinking, but why start it at only $500?! What is the catch?! - Answer: THERE IS NO CATCH! We KNOW for a fact that there are innumerable eBayers that know a GREAT DEAL when they see one and, with the help of those intelligent eBayers, we are sure that the vehicle will ultimately be sold for a reasonable price for both the buyer (that's YOU) and seller (that's US). It is up to the BIDDERS to decide what the REASONABLE PRICE is! Since there is NO RESERVE, the highest bidder WINS THIS BEAUTIFUL 2006 KIA SEDONA MINIVAN!! Why is this a Mechanic's Special? Now, before we go any further, let us clarify that we are STRICTLY in the business of wholesaling vehicles to the public and therefore, do NOT have an on-site service facility like most full-fledged franchised dealerships. As wholesalers, our inventory turnover is a lot quicker than your average dealer so we try to minimize the time we spend on any particular vehicle. All of the vehicles that we acquire are usually "problem free" and require little to no attention! We DO sometimes perform basic services like fixing inoperable windows, changing out tires, replacing brakes etc...you know, the small stuff. But, when a vehicle requires time-consuming work, we either wholesale it off to other dealerships or to the public in as-is condition. A regular dealership (that usually has much higher mark-ups than us), can AFFORD to repair these types of issues but, as a dealership that chiefly sells vehicles at WHOLESALE to other dealerships and to the public, we do not have the profit margin to justify doing such a thing. So, here's the story on the vehicle: Like many of our vehicles, we purchased this good looking 2006 Kia Sedona minivan from Wells Fargo bank. The van looked great inside and out and we made an offer on the vehicle thinking it needed nothing other than some light detailing...however, when we had it transported back to our dealership, we realized the vehicle had some mechanical issue(s). As previously mentioned, we do not have an on-site service facility. So, we had it transported to a local service facility that does most of our basic work. They briefly diagnosed the vehicle and stated that it has three unresponsive cylinders and may need a new engine. The vehicle doesn't seem to "pick up" and tends to stall at traffic lights and very low speeds etc. Is it drivable? Yes, it is! We drove it quite a few miles ourselves. However, would we suggest you to drive it back home to another state? Although, we wouldn't be surprised if you can successfully do this, we would NOT suggest you to do so! So, to make a long story short, the vehicle has some sort of engine-related problem that MIGHT require an engine replacement because three of the cylinders are unresponsive. We did get some advice from others and did a little bit of online research ourselves and realize that this problem might be solvable by simply replacing a few parts and not having to overhaul the engine. Although we think replacing the engine is taking things a bit too far, you can look to it as a worst case scenario. As of now, the Check Engine light flashes (it does not STAY illuminated) and the SRS light is on (the SRS light is the least of our concerns as that's usually a result of some cheap sensor). The reason we don't think this is a major issue is because the Check Engine light FLASHES instead of staying illuminated - when a Check Engine light flashes, that's usually due to a cylinder misfire or some other minor, fixable issue (or, at least, that is what we think from our past experience). But anyway - WHO KNOWS? This problem might be something minor that we are probably overlooking!! If that's the case, this may turn out to be an even better deal than it already is!! As a wholesaler, we just don't have the time and resources to dig deeper into this matter. We were verbally quoted that the cost of replacing the engine may be anywhere from $700-$800 with parts and labor (this is with a good, lower mile pre-owned engine of course). We were told that this would certainly fix the issue. You're welcome to shop around yourselves and see how much it would cost you to get this taken care of. Or, if you are mechanically saavy, you might be able to save yourself a bunch of money and just take over the task yourself! Now, if you don't want to look into what this issue is and just want to replace the engine altogether, you're probably still looking at less than a thousand bucks in repairs (and we think this is worst-case scenario). Ultimately, we are not mechanics nor do we have anybody on our immediate team that's mechanically inclined so don't just go by what we're saying - do your due diligence once you buy the vehicle! We did tell you the issues we're experiencing with this 2006 Sedona, so it is up to you to decide how to fix them since it is being sold as-is. We think it would make a TERRIFIC vehicle for the family once it is fixed. We bought the vehicle thinking we'd put it up for sale for $8K - and our profit margins are fairly slim! So, although we're expecting to lose money from this decision, we expect to recuperate at least a fair portion of it through this auction. It is certainly a nice vehicle and with a little bit of work, we're sure the lucky buyer will be able to enjoy it for years and years to come!
