Vehicle Detail
Super solid, original 1959 Impala coupe with a South Carolina title. It is getting hard to find a complete car with the original 283 and PowerGlide transmission in this condition. Complete interior less door panels, headliner, or carpet. The door panel upper rails, interior stainless trim, and armrests are in good condition. All of the exterior trim and glass are intact with only the driver door glass being cracked. All of the window regulators work smoothly. The left rear footwell and the center rear of the trunk pan have been repaired years ago with fiberglass. Overall the entire floor and trunk are in really solid condition. The car is a super car to restore. The chassis is solid. There is very little rust ( as pictured) in the body. There has been some repair done behind the driver rear wheel and some shallow body filler repair areas (as pictured). Trunk lid, hood, doors, firewall, hinge areas and rocker panels are really nice. The roof is super solid as well. The car has the original drivertrain, but it runs, shifts and stops (yard driven only as the car is not registered for the road). The right inner fender well and radiator support have rust from the battery being located above. I bought the car to flip and make a few bucks. If the car does not meet the reserve price while on eBay, it will be for sale at the Charlotte Auto Fair April 4 -7. Come by and take it for a spin. We will be in the GREEN field at space RG58. It is the same as the "buy it now' price of $8,500. The title is signed by the previous owner. It was notarized apparently before 1998 as that is when the notary's commission was to expire. If you think this may cause a problem with your state's motor vehicle department, please do not bid. I will include a bill of sale listing the name and address of the person I bought the car from.On Mar-30-13 at 05:31:17 PDT, seller added the following information: Some have asked "what have I done to the car since buying it"? We sanded the left side of the car down to blue paint. It had gray primer on that side from a "restoration" beginning? All of the exterior trim for the driver's side was in the trunk. All of the trunk trim, seats and rear armrests were also thrown inside of the car. The right side fin molding was off. The fins had to be repaired as they were some quarter-sized rust holes at the rear undersides and some along their edges. Most of the fin clip tangs were broken off, so we reinstall the fin trim using new clips that are pop riveted to keep them in place. The trunk lid had a rust hole where the splitter meets the trunk moldings. I was about 2" square, and was repaired with metal. The fins had two dents that we had to straighten where someone had strapped the car to a trailer across the fins! Once the car was sanded down to the blue paint it was sprayed with clear to seal it and all of the removed moldings were reinstalled. All of the window regulators were oiled and the seats and armrests were reinstalled. The gas tank was dropped, drained, and flushed out. The under hood work included changing to a used HEI distributor and alternator, new fan belt , plugs, wires and a battery. Thanks for the questions. Ask more if you need.
