A few months ago I was clearing an estate and took possession of this 1978 Suzuki GS1000. I quickly applied for title and have it now free and clear. The Motorcycle comes from a climate controlled building that was dry, and has preserved it fairly well. We got eight bikes in all of which none had been registered since 1992. This leads me to conclude that they have been there at least that long. I dont have much knowledge on any motorcycles like this so I am leaving the bid at no reserve and the high bidder will own it. Check the photos well as I paid for upgrade as this will be your best way of assessing value. After a minor inspection we replaced the broken throttle cables. Installed a new taillight, and added a new battery. The tank was dry and clean. We filled it with fuel and she started right up. I have driven it about four times and have put 30 miles on it. It starts every time and runs well. It will need all fluids flushed and it will need new fork seals. The front brake is a bit soft but I dont know why. Everything on this bikes works. All lights, horn, starter, high beam/low beam, brake lights, turn signals work. All cable driven things like brakes, clutch and throttle work as they should. This bike is fully operational. GENERAL INFO. In no particular order. Both tires are at 30%. Looks like newer chain and sprockets very nice. very small dent in tank so small I couldnt seam to catch it with the camera. Small scratch on front fender, Scrape on speedo housing. Scrape on left crash bar. Front brake a little soft but front and rear disks are great with no groves. Seat is in great condition. All original Mikuni carbs. Pipes look good with minor pitting. MY THOUGHTS ON THE WES COOLEY PAINT. First you should know that the Wes Cooley paint is all paint with no decals. When I registered this bike at DMV they told me that the plate on this bike was the wrong one and hat this was not a GS1000S. The bike that the plate came from was. So it is my thought that the tank, side covers and tail came off a Wes Cooley bike that must have had another problem. My guess is he switched the parts and the plates so he could ride with a apparently good plate. This is just a guess but seams the most plausable. The paint is in very nice condition with bright color and no fade. This is a great project for someone as it allready runs. I would say change all fluids and it will be ready to go.
