Vehicle Detail
1960 AMC nash metropolitan 2-door coupe. As read off the tag: AMERICAN MOTORS CORP. BODY #73127, MODEL #562, TRIM #T971, PAINT #P914 / P915, CHASSIS #E 73033 MADE IN ENGLAND. originally tan / white, one repaint to turquois / white many years ago. I bought it from the elderly female owner with the intentions on restoring it but apparently i already have too many projects, so i was reminded lol. As she drove it frequently it has sat since the late 80's inside when her husband had removed the transmission (she thought it was to rebuild it.) The tranny is nice and clean, it shifts nice and spins perfectly thru all the gears and it does come with the car (see pic.) He has long since passed so i cannot ask him for certain why. All the clutch pieces as well as the flywheel are still on the engine as well as the starter. The driveshaft and crossmember seem to be missing however. -ENGINE: 4 cylinder engine number 15F-N-H 14275. 100% complete, looks great, turns over well with plenty of compression. The oil looks like it was changed yesterday. She told me it ran great when it was parked but as i didn't personally hear it run i cannot guarantee this but she's an honorable and knowledgeable woman so i have no reason to not believe her. -Good radiator but the waterpump seems tight from sitting. -OPTIONS: the car does have the smiths heater and was equipped at one time with a radio. Antenna there but the radio is gone. -ENGINE COMPARTMENT: solid with no rust or corrosion anywhere (see pics). -FRONT END: all trim, bumper and grille with surround all are extremely nice. I'd say the bumper is driver quality, the grille and surround are better than driver. -LF FENDER: a fist-sized hole down low and one small dent (see pic). It has been replaced years ago with a red one from another car. -DRIVER ROCKER: outer needs replaced, minor work to inner but solid (see pic). -DRIVER DOOR: some door dings down low, slight bubbling in outer skin in lower corner. The shell is completely solid. -DRIVER QUARTER: extremely nice but a fist-sized hole at rocker (see pic). -DECKLID AND REAR OF CAR: perfect decklid, the hinges are missing but the latch and handle look perfect with no pitting. The taillight bezels are cracked but i believe they're available new(they're plastic.) The bumper is straight driver quality and the continental kit is complete with the original spare wheel. -INNER TRUNK: the inner trunk area and the trunk floors appear perfect, no rust or damage (see pics). -TIRES: all need replaced, however all four factory wheels look perfect, and all four factory hubcaps are on the car and extremely nice. --GLASS: all glass is exceptionally nice with no cracks or bubbling, EXCEPT for the windshield. it's cracked. -RIGHT / PASSENGER QUARTER: years ago the prior owner's husband attempted a repair, see pic. The damage and dent is not deep, you can see it from inside the trunk (see pics.). Also a fist-sized hole at the outer rocker, which also needs replaced (see pics). -PASSENGER DOOR: has a few light dings and slight bubbling down low but no rust underneath (the shell is solid.) -PASSENGER FRONT FENDER: a fist sized hole down low but extremely nice otherwise. -HOOD AND ROOF: appear near perfect from what i can see. The car as a whole is completely solid, the doors open and close perfectly when sitting in it (no flex) but it does need passenger front and driver front floorpan work (see pics). All the body crossmembers look great (see pics of the underside.) All the rust issues appear all cosmetic and easily fixed. -INTERIOR: The dash as a whole is awesome (i did not clean it so the factory black paint looks terrible), near flawless gauge cluster (the odometer is actually currently at 000000, don't know why.) I do have all the door handles / window cranks not pictured and go with the car. The windows roll up and down fine, the regulators just need oiled i think. The seat frame is perfect, both sides tilt as they should. The rear seat panel that accesses the trunk works well. The latch is broken but another one is included with the car. This car will make a great project or an awesome parts car (it is too nice to tear down for parts i believe.) As i just picked up the car and it has been with the prior owner over 40 years i did not get a title or keys with it. It's been so long since it's been registered it's been purged from the system so obtaining one shouldn't be too difficult. I will include a state of colorado bill of sale. From there it's all up to you to obtain a title. PLEASE NOTE: As i've described the car as fully as i possibly can and provided what i thought to be important pics, there may be hidden issues that i didn't catch in the description. The car is sold AS / IS, HOW / IS, WHERE / IS. NO warranty whatsoever expressed or implied so please, please study all the pics and numbers that i've included in the ad as there are no returns. Once you win the car it is a legal binding contract so be prepared to buy. I do reserve the right to end the listing early as the car is also available / offered for local sale. Please feel free to contact me regarding alternate payment means as they are definitely encouraged. As i will help with loading the car i cannot price the transportation / hauling for you nor do i have the time to do it. For your shipping / pickup quote the car is in commerce city, colorado zipcode 80022. As i do require timely payment i cannot store the car for any long length of time so please get your shipping arrangements in order prior to bidding. You can contact me regarding a timeline for pickup as you're bidding. Thank you and good luck! inkFrog Analytics On Mar-13-13 at 19:06:59 PDT, seller added the following information: please note: i see that somewhere the listing shows that the car has a 4 speed transmission when i believe it's a three speed. you can clearly see in the supplied pics of the interior the lack of a shifter hole in the tunnel and the column shift present so i hope the interested parties already assumed it came with a three speed. thanks for your understanding and good luck! On Mar-14-13 at 18:31:55 PDT, seller added the following information: I totaled up the average selling value in parts and the reserve is well below that as i'm getting many emails regarding the reserve amount, we are not far from it. if there are any questions don't hesitate to ask, i'll be happy to provide whatever information that i can. thanks again. On Mar-16-13 at 21:11:08 PDT, seller added the following information: PLEASE NOTE: I'VE JUST LOWERED THE RESERVE SO IT'S VERY CLOSE TO SELLING. GOOD LUCK!
